Buyer Beware.
Buyer Beware. Pre Owned vehicles. Do your homework is all I’m going to say. I made that mistake and 9 months after buying a car they said they had serviced for its entire history and was the “best” pre owned vehicle on the lot for the price and tgey knew the car in and out, , now has over 5k of work that needs to be done and all issues that far exceed the 9400 miles we have on the vehicle. Brakes, Struts, serpentine belt and 2 supposed new tires, the tires they want ti replace are the two they noted were new when purchased. … and the GM just wants to point to the Massachusetts lemon law. Said I should have come in within the lemon law period because now there is no liability for him. Exact words. Maybe he’s right, but a good GM would probably take responsibility and try and work with you, not defend and protect and point finger to law and basically say, too bad so sad to his customers. Just scroll through these reviews and he is very defensive on each response. Never claims responsibility for anything, just tries and use your words and actions against you. Poor customer service. He will respond I yelled at his team and swore at them. He is 100% right. Yes Dale I got mad, yes dale I used strong language, sorry I hurt your feelings. But your team knew all the safety issues that were wrong with the vehicle and still wanted my wife and infant to take it off the lot because you got called out, and once I called you out on the sale of a lemon, you immediately “banned” me from your premises and refused to fix the car. All the issues you described magically were not on the safety assessment despite your manager verbally telling me he wouldn’t drive the vehicle due to the issues mentioned above. I should have done a better job with the due diligence. Just want to make sure you do the same before buying a pre owned vehicle from Planet Subaru. Poor customer service. Best think about this place is the pricing, but buyer beware, now you have some information to consider. I just took my business elsewhere and saved $2800 on the exact same issues they pointed out.

BUYERS BEWARE.
BUYERS BEWARE. Planet Subaru prides themselves on being different from all the other dealerships. They do indeed offer lower pricing, but they make up for that on the back end. I just had an experience with Klaire and Rhonda. They shared with me the spec sheet, with selling price, taxes and fees, etc. Everything looked good. I then told them I wanted to lease this vehicle and asked for a new spec sheet with the updated info. They left the MA sales tax of $2,011 on the deal, as if I were purchasing it. When you lease, you pay monthly tax, not a full upfront fee as if you were purchasing. I tried telling them a couple of times they need to take this off and they wouldn't acknowledge the fact I even brought it up. Secondly, when they quoted me for the lease, I asked them what the money factor (interest rate) was and she said it was .00290 which is 6.96%. She then quickly responded back and said, correction, we quoted you with last month's rate of .00278 (6.67%) not the .00290 (6.96%). My monthly payment increased by only $3. There's no way it could increase by $3, it would have been at least $17-20. So right then, I knew I had a problem. Subaru Motors Finance is offering the money factor of .00240 (5.76%) to the dealership on 2024 Subaru Forester Sport. The rate of 5.76% is what Planet gets and then they mark up the money factor on leases. Don't let them fool you. They tried to increase their buy rate of 5.76% to 6.96% consumer rate. All of that money goes right into their pocket. The money factor is NEGOTIABLE, I have spoken with several Subaru dealerships who would honor the buy rate. My message to consumers is, do your research and know your numbers. Again, when I asked about the MF, it was not even acknowledged. Here's the quote they offered me on a lease with the MA sales tax still included in the quote for a lease. I suggest you go elsewhere or maybe not because they are indeed just like EVERY dealership and will take you for every dime you have.

Hi Dan, Thank you for your feedback, it's pretty clear we had some communication issues here, and based on your other reviews it sounds like this has been quite a process for you. We do our best to be as transparent as possible with how we quote our leases. For example: when someone asks us for a quote with a certain amount of money "down", we understand they really mean "due at signing", so we quote it like that, and we include the sales tax in the payment. We do this so neither of us run into any surprises when you arrive, which as far as we can tell is pretty rare in this business. We run our leases on software designed for running leases and, unfortunately, it's not easy for folks to figure them out on their own, so we're very understanding that you may have a lot of questions about how it works. We will gladly answer any questions our customers have with as much detail as they like; I've certainly had to explain why the state taxes money down more than a few times. We manage to provide a great experience for nearly everyone we meet, but unfortunate things happen occasionally. We sincerely hope that you find a dealership you feel comfortable working with and get the car you're looking for. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. Hey Dale, I've only reviewed 1 other Subaru dealership recently and they were just as suspect as Planet Subaru. In this particular case, there was no mention of putting any money down. I didn't intend on paying anything at signing, I was going to roll everything into the lease payment. The sales tax that was included in the payment was for $2,011.63 and MA sales tax is 6.25% so let's do some math. In order to get a payment of $2,011.63, the "down payment" would have been $32,000 (32,000 x 6.25% = $2000) That would be a substantial "down payment" I'm not interested in the software you use on your leases. The amount of information available to consumers makes it very easy to see where dealers are not safe or trustworthy. Again Dale, I asked a couple of times about the MA sales tax on the quote I received and my questions went unanswered along with the money factor in question. Things do happen Dale and dealerships can be exposed for the lies they try and get away with.

She kept in touch with me, gave straight forward answers and looked for additional information to make sure I felt as comfortable as possible during the entire process. I have been a customer of Planet Subaru for years and remain loyal due to their customer service excellence. The entire showroom is accessible and welcoming for all and employees are friendly and helpful. Always a good experience in the service dept. as well.

I did make an error and mixed up the Branford Honda dealership with you and I apologize. The Suburu staff was very accommodating when they could not fill my request for a hybrid crosstrek. It has been a frustrating search for a small hybrid car. Thank you for letting me know.

I am a Planet Suburu fan! I have purchased 3 slightly used suburbs over many years. I just traded in my Forester for a beautiful blue Crosstrek. Of course a key reason I drive 30 miles to Hanover is the talented sales crew and exceptional service team. Crystal did an amazing job answering my (extensive) questions and was patient and informative. She let me take my time until I decided on my gently used Crosstrek- the day after Christmas!! Five star for the purchasing experience but one star for the service experience. Here's the what I think people should know: No half-day loaner car: On website they say you can get a loaner car even for a minor maintenance service, but this is only partially true because they only offer loaner car for a whole day. This means that you need to come in the day before, drop your car and get the loaner car, and come back the second day for pick up. If you just need a car to go somewhere else nearby during the day and come back later, it's not possible. Rude receptionist who don't know much about Subaru policy: I live and work really far away from Planet Subaru. After I explained how it's a hassle for me to drive 2 hours just to pick up the loaner car the day before and another 2 hours to pick up my own car on the day of maintenance, the receptionist said that many customers live in Boston can do this, impatiently. And when I was asking if Subaru of America offers free maintenance benefits for new Subaru cars, she kept talking about the passport program that Planet Subaru offers and gave another lecture by saying "Every service should be paid for" with a very mean tone. I am not sure if this is the kind of service you want to get when you purchased a new car with them and tried to schedule your very first maintenance.
