    After experiencing a lack of quality service at other area dealerships, I was pleasantly surprised to find Mike M. and the staff at Smart Toyota to be helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. Throughout the entire purchase process, I appreciated Mike and the rest of the staff's sincere approach and genuine concern for me. Mike has also been readily available after the purchase, and has been a great resource and help in navigating initial service visits. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for great service, a quality vehicle, and a caring staff.

    We recently decided to upgrade from out 2015 Highlander to a newer model that had the safety features that are important to us. Shawn Guilfoyle provided us with excellent service in making this happen. Though the selection of available models was very good, we wanted a specific interior color. Shawn was quickly able to obtain a new Highlander which met our preferences. The entire shopping and purchasing experience was the most pleasant I have had in my fifty years of purchasing cars. I am happy to recommend Smart Toyota and Shawn Guilfoyle.

    I was very disappointed in the lack of customer service and professionalism in the dealership at Smart Toyota in Davenport, Iowa. This is why I say that: I came in on a Saturday and worked with sales representative – Ryan Peterson. I also worked with the new car sales manager David Spardel. On Saturday I was quoted a price on a new RAV4. This went through both the sales representative Ryan Peterson and the new car sales manager David Spardel as well as one other person. At this time I was impressed as they were willing to work with me. I gave them a number and they were able to meet that number. David Spardel even came over to talk with me and made it clear that they wanted my business and appreciated me. I asked for the quote in writing and asked to take the day to think about it. They gave me the quote and assured me it was fine for me to take a bit to think it over. A few hours later I let Ryan know that I wanted to proceed with the deal. Since they were bringing in the vehicle for me I would need to provide a $500 deposit of earnest money. I provided this money. On Tuesday, I receive an email from Ryan Peterson saying that they misquoted me by $1700. He said that because of the mistake they would take $300 off. I responded back the next day expressing that this was a mistake of the dealership and not my mistake so therefore I should not be responsible for the price difference. I understand that mistakes happen but the way this was being handled was not fair to me. I gave them earnest money for what we agreed upon. I put faith in Smart to deliver on what they said they were going to do. I would have expected a business to hold up their end of the deal. I would think that if the business made the mistake then the business would eat the cost. A deal is a deal. The next day I received an email from Ryan Peterson saying that Bob Boyer the General Manager was familiar with the situation and wanted to handle this personally. Bob Boyer called me back an hour after the scheduled time to talk. He never apologized. He also never apologized for the mistake on Smart’s end. He did admit that it was Smart’s error. Bob Boyer said that they cannot discount the car by $1700 even though it was their error because then they would not make money on the car purchase. They lost my business. I am not interested in shopping at a place that treats their customer’s that way. I have already shared this with my family and friends. I took my business elsewhere and decided to not purchase a Toyota.
