Ted at Smart Toyota is the man!
Ted is the man! He and his sales manager were able to get me into the exact car I was looking for at a time where inventory is horrible everywhere. While some Dealers are adding “market adjustment” fees to sell cars for a couple thousand (or more) over MSRP, these folks actually gave me a discount off MSRP! It wasn’t a huge drop (would be stupid business in this market) but they literally didn’t have to do anything- they did it solely as a measure of goodwill because they care about their customers. If they had held firm either I would have still bought it or another customer would within a day at most. Ted is low pressure, takes time to hear out what you want and delivers that without incessant upsells. He will make suggestions like any good salesperson but there’s no power struggle feeling like you get from many salespeople. At one point I left to get lunch and make a decision on what features etc I wanted added on, when I came back he had customers there who were back after buying from him 4yrs ago. He was helping them sort out insurance issues after their granddaughter got in a wreck. That’s the kind of guy he is, 4yrs later this couple remembers and trusts him to help them sort out options. If you are in the market definitely consider this dealership and give Ted a call!

service leaves alot to be desired
its really sad that this is a "Tale of two Dealers). On one end the sales department is one of the best anywehere, and then there is the service department.... On the way back from a familly trip from Des Moines, when I pulled in to my neighboorhood, the plastic cover that covers the oil filter fell off, and starts dragging. Now I know that things break, and parts fail. This is nobodys fault. My car at the time has 26k miles, and less than 2 years owned., so still weel within the Toyota factory bumper to bumper warranty. Called Smart, and they were able to get me in the next day, so great, off to a good start. Well when I get to Smart the next morning, im greeted by Service Advisor Bailey. She instantly calles it a "heat shield" , now I start to think heat sheild are not covered by warranty, and I know this. But why would a heat sheild be made of plastic, and on the road side of the car?? Heat shields are thin metal, and between the heat source, and the passenger compartment. So i wait for my vehicle, and it honestly didnt take to long. Car comes back, and Bailey states that the bolts had fallen out, and were replaced. My bill was 74 bucks and some change. I said what about my factory warranty??? And she looked confused, she asked the guy standing next to her if heat shields ( there is that term again) were covered under factory warranty. I later found out this was indeed the service manager Steve lyons who said yea we can cover that, should be no question under factory warranty. I filed a complaint with Toyota USA, asnd later recieved an email from Lyons, who stated that yea we fixed it, and the front line employees are new ( there are several online reviews that mention Bailey by name going back a year and a half, thats not too new to know the basic functions of your job, including what the facotry warranty is for your make of vehicle you service.) Lyons also stated that it wasnt her fault (again becuase shes "NEW") and I needed to give her a favorable review. I do not and will not be told how to review or what to review, as far as im concerned, Mr Lyons's behavior is unethical at best. When I emailed him regarding his answer, I was told " We have worked with you at every turn, and never say anything positive, you do nothing but complain about our service, and are always looking for a gripe ( it is my right as a consumer with a service contract with this business to point out mistakes and attepts to get money for waranty service) why do I continue to service my vehicle with smart with a stron implication to take my vehicle elsewhere. If this indeed is the case, then the Iowa Attorny General will be notified, as warranty service under the factory warranty can not be denied, and the service contract for the extended warranty, is exactly that, a contratc to perform services covered under that warranty (Magnussen Moss act).
People we so polite here. They bent over back words to get me into a car that I wanted. Caleb was the one that sold me my car. Him and the finace guy were great! They made sure to make it happen. I would send anyone there. It was a little bit of a process but once they got the ball running it didn't take it long at all. They made sure we were out in time to get our son from school. Again thanks again for the great service!

Worst place to ever purchase are car from. They will add multiple optional coverages on your lease/loan without your permission. They will lie on the federal odometer disclosure to lease vehicles that are over 500 miles. Numerous reasons to never purchase a vehicle from here. I have plenty of documentation. People I have dealt with Brent Miller, Nate Lampton, Chris Geigle, Curtis Evans.

Bought Used Toyota Avalon Hybrid
John Denkmann was a great salesman. I purchased vehicle sight unseen. Flew into local airport where he picked me up and had my car ready. With just a short time of paperwork, I was on my way home. The only issue I had was understanding the title process. I could not get any answers from their finance managers who did not return my phone calls for almost 2 weeks. But then they put me in touch with Kris their title clerk. She was outstanding. She explained everything to me and went above and beyond to make sure my paperwork got to my bank.
