D, We are delighted to hear that we were able to match you with the right car and within the price range you were looking for. Have fun showing off your new car!

Beware of hidden fees!

Beware of hidden fees!!! They advertise a false listing price which assumes a % down payment among other things. Once you’re seated they hit you with the “btw”… they think they’re being transparent by adding the “disclaimer” in the description, but they’re really just trying to hook you in with the “low advertised price”… disgusting business practice!!!

AJ, Thank you for your time and patience. We are disappointed to hear that your vehicle experience wasn't a pleasant one, we would love the opportunity to speak to you to see how we can better assist you. Please give us a call at our dealership and ask for the General Manager, we would love to further assist you.

Keep a look out for significant additional fees or charges they dont disclose until your credit is checked and you are with finance. In my case i was going to pick up the vehicle coming out of state which i have clearly mentioned yet they did not disclose these details as you may back out. The interion of the car was not clean underneath the seats so they cleaning was not thorough either

Thank you for your feedback yogad. We reviewed our database and don't see you purchased a vehicle from us in the last 3 years. I would like to hear from you about who's name the cars under and when it was purchased so i can try to help. My email is Vito@ippautogroup.com

I would avoid at all costs.

I would avoid at all costs. I called to confirm pricing before driving to the dealership and was told they would honor the Cars.com cheaper listed price versus their website. I was later hung up on while trying to figure out why the price is $5,000 higher than the online listing without tax. Once there they would not honor Cars, com price until Joe the manager got involved who was helpful. After negotiating the price for hours which was filled with small print and hidden charges (a $1995 payment, $695 dealer prep fee $900 reconditioning fee and another ~$300 in dealer processing fees) they tried to sneak all the money back in at the end and claimed they made a mistake and forgot to remove the down payment. At the financing stage a rude manager knowingly lied to me multiple times stating the loan isn't amortized interest because it's a "simple interest loan" and that longer term loans are lower interest rates and forced us into a 72 month term for a higher kickback to the dealership. Tried to say he can't run the numbers again for a 60 month term because it will hurt our credit knowing that hits are compiled into one inquiry within a specific time frame. After all this he also tried to force a extended warranty and continued to state WE are wasting his time.....

Dealer response

This is a false representation of what transpired from a party who was not involved in the purchase or at our location. We are not perfect as no dealership is but we do not agree to these false claims by an uninvolved party.

Consumer response

Everything I’ve stated is in fact the truth. I wouldn’t have had to step in from the sidelines if multiple employees hadn’t been so blatantly trying to take advantage of my brother, who’s a first-time car buyer. Your response to my review only proves this was a real and appalling incident for the readers of this website, so thank you for that!

If you go to VW of Islip, bring a lie detector.

If you go to VW of Islip, bring a lie detector. Every notion of dealing with a used car flim flam dealer is right here. Went to see a used BMW. Lifted the hood. The engine was pitted and the plastic engine cover shook. BUYER BEWARE

Where to start?

Where to start? Not at Volkswagen of West Islip. Do not purchase a vehicle from this dealership. They are not honest and not kind. So it has been 5 months since I have bought my Jeep from Volkswagen and if I could do it again, I would never do it. I have yet to receive my key fob that I should have gotten before I drove the car off the lot. I do not have a key to enter my vehicle and any time I ask for it, my request has been ignored. I already need new tires, (which the car could have used before I bought it) and the oil change that I was promised would be paid for has been paid for by me, out of pocket. When I first arrived at VW, I was brought into the office and told I was VIP. What a crock of...I do not, and have never felt like VIP. The thing is, I should have known better than when I first came in and the car that they had listed wasn't on their lot, but I stayed anyway. It only got worse from there. The salesperson who I dealt with, let's calle him David, said all the right things, but it was all xx. After I purchased the vehicle and driving off the lot, the car would not go into drive not once but multiple times and I was almost stranded at work at midnight on the night that I drove the car off the lot. The sales team was less than responsive (thank goodness for their service reps). It stayed in service for a week and while I was grateful for a loaner car, this was not the car I came in to purchase. David also let me know that since I wasn't able to negotiate the price of the vehicle that he would pay for my oil changes. And then, instead of actually following through on this, he does not respond and then gaslights me into thinking I am wrong for asking what I paid for. Save your time and your money and go somewhere that does not treat their customers like absolute garbage. I would like my key fab for my car and do not feel as if I should have to drive to the dealership to get it. I would also like my oil changes paid for as promised, but that does not look like its going to happen either. I have never met people with less integrity than the salespeople of Volkswagen. Go elsewhere. Go anywhere else

Stay far away they sold us a used car that has a blown transmission and will do nothing to rectify the situations. We took it there and they said it was fine took it to another place the transmission is blown. No call backs they are all skimmers . Save your time and money

Poor experience.

Poor experience. They listed a price on cars.com and then refused to honor it saying it was a private “employee only” price. It’s wasn’t in the terms and made no sense that it was advertised publicly like that.
