STAY AWAY FROM FROM DANNY RAMIREZ

I am writing this letter to express my extreme displeasure of dealing with your finance representative Mr. Danny Ramirez. His lack of professionalism and attention to detail almost cost your salesman Ryan a car sale. Unfortunately, I can’t express enough Mr. Ramirez’s arrogance and lack of professionalism with the way he treats customers and try to show how much more important he is than his customers. Basically, saying I’m doing you a favor by helping you. I got so fed up with him I was ready to leave and cancel the deal over $100.00 or a title, but it really was his attitude of you can buy it or not, I don’t care. We had been at Calvert Toyota for over 5 hours, feeling hungry needing to eat and being diabetic here is this xxxxxxx treating my wife and I like we should kiss his butt, so I walked out. I was waiting for my wife outside, just when we were ready to go Mr. Ramirez and Ryan approached me outside and suggested another game plan and I agreed, which leads to others issues. I later found out that the contract that Mr. Ramirez prepared was done incorrectly, he gave us a key drive no paperwork. I never thought anyone could screw up a cash deal that both the seller and buyer agreed upon, until I met your Mr. Ramirez. He almost accomplished that task signal handily. Last, but not least after leaving my wife and I thought we would drive around in our new vehicle when after about 3 or 4 miles the gas light came on, then I realized your maintenance department cleaned the vehicle, but they never put in any gas. I had to put gas in a car I just purchased, so instead of joy running we went home.

The issues caused by Toyota services

Very disappointed services. I bought my 4Runner to Toyota Mike Calvert for the following services: 1. recall services 2. oil change and other maintenance services (wipers/brakes /AC filter/engine filter replaced/bake fluid flush) 3. state inspection. I dropped off my car before 8am, and it wasn't ready until after 6pm. They said the brakes need to be replaced, although I had never had any problem with my brakes, it's been 6 years with 25K milages, I agreed to replace them, which charged me over $500. Now it gives me loud grinding sounds while I step on my brake after the replacement, I wonder why the replacement made it worse? Also my navigation is inoperative and reboot during operation, it doesn't work since the services was done. The services also give me some bonus, which is black finger prints on each side of my front seats ceiling.

Do not take your Toyota to Mike Calvert for service. On...

Do not take your Toyota to Mike Calvert for service. On two separate occasions, they have shown themselves to be incompetent diagnosticians and more likely dishonest salesmen bordering on bold liars. My first encounter with them was shortly after I moved to Houston. Prior to driving down, I had completed a car checkup and replaced the battery. Unfortunately my car wouldn’t start one morning, and I had it towed to Mike Calvert Toyota. They insisted that my car battery was the issue, going so far as to offer me an expensive new battery, an extra charge for insurance, and an extra charge for “battery service”. I told them I had just changed the battery less than a month ago and to please look for other causes. They refused to listen to me, even after I took the battery to Advanced auto parts and had it test perfectly. After much hemming and hawing they eventually found that the starter needed replacing, and with a replacement (and my old battery!) my car was fine. My second encounter was just a few days ago and more egregious. My car broke down and I didn’t know where to go, so I gave them another chance. Duke Woodard, the service advisor, calls me the next day and tells me the transmission had gone bad - $5500. Repairs would cost more than the car’s worth, and I planned to tow it to the scrapyard. I asked Duke if he was sure there was no other cause that could be fixed, and he said this – “I um, actually took a look at your car with the technician and I confirmed that um, the part definitely had internal issues and needed to be repaired”. At this point I knew that he was lying to me, so I had it towed to an independent shop to get a second opinion. The mechanic pointed out an obviously broken CV axle, easily visible from underneath the car. The internals of the transmission were fine. Cost $500 to have both axles replaced and my car works like a peach. This is a long review, but I want to make sure no one goes through the same heartache and distress that Mike Calvert Toyota put me through. They have misdiagnosed my car two times and have outright lied to me to sell me unnecessary repairs at extreme costs. Two strikes against Mike Calvert Toyota, and I won’t be back for a third. *MCT, would love if you would contact me so that I may hear your side of the story.

Patrick, my contact at Mike Calvert, made my buying experience so easy and comfortable by sending videos to me of cars he felt would be of interest to me. By the time we met, my video choice was waiting for me right outside the door of the dealership. The paperwork was a breeze and handled very professionally, and off I went. I have purchased at least six cars at Mike Calvert and would do it again. I would ask for Patrick again too, if I have to buy another vehicle.

Liars and crooks

Mike Calvert is the absolute worst! The service advisor is a nice enough guy, but I am not sure if he or the service technician is the liar. I was told they had to climb in the back of my wife 4Runner to check on the rear hatch to inspect it. There is no way they did because when we picked it up the vehicle the rear hatch was in the same position that we could not get it out of. If they looked at it, then it would have been closed properly. Mike Calvert wanted to charge me to replace the latch and components (almost $1,500). I called another dealership and they said it would be between $700/$800, but the gentleman asked if I was decent with tools and said if so, I could probably do it all for about $300 and an hours worth of time and their are videos online that show you how. Then if we didn't have any work done they wanted to charge almost $100 for the review and inspection. Liars and crooks. I was able to close the rear hatch properly after about 10 minutes of work. AVOID MIKE CALVERT TOYOTA

Extortion and Liars

Mike Calvert Toyota's service department are either liars either crooks. To make a long story short, they said they inspected the rear hatch of the vehicle that was the reason we brought it in. Come to find out they did not inspect it. They wanted to charge me almost $1,500 they said the part was $335 and it would take 4 hours of labor. We decided against it. Online I found Toyota OEM parts for $200, and a video that took about 15 minutes to make the change. I was going to just go pick up the vehicle, but they charge almost $100 just for looking at it (which they did not do) We figured we would change the brakes since I had to spend at least $100. Any here is the kicker, when we leave the rear hatch door was not looked at and I got it to close in about 10 minutes with minor tools. After watching a 5 minute youtube video. There is NO WAY they looked at it because when we brought it in the rear hatch was stuck in an inbetween area of not fully open and not fully closed. The service guy was nice enough, but I am not sure if he or the service technician is the liar.

A few issues I have with Mike Calvert are their high pressure sales tactics, pushy sales managers (who call you ‘boss’ and ‘bro’, neither of which am I) and their willingness to push customers off onto other sales representatives instead of having consistent follow thru when making a sale. Beyond that, I was displeased with miscommunication from the service department on the phone about service time which ended up being doubled when I arrived. While Toyota sells an objectively good product, their selection criteria of dealerships needs to be revisited.

Great Services

Just purchased my daughter her first car, the sales man Remington and the Assistant Manager Juan, really went to bat for us. They were able to get the price in our budget, I felt very comfortable with the whole process.
