Thank you for your positive feedback. We're glad our appointment system and service met your expectations. Five Star Chevrolet of Florence appreciates your business.
I hate to do this, but people need to know. If I could give ZERO stars to Five Star Chevrolet in Florence, SC, I would — but I have to give at least one. So here’s the story from the beginning. When I purchased my Chevy Tahoe, I did not plan on buying an extended warranty because I’ve had bad experiences in the past with warranties not paying for repairs. The salesman pushed and pushed for me to buy it, telling me I wouldn’t regret it and that if anything happened to my vehicle, they would take care of it. He specifically told me I wouldn’t have the same issues I had previously at Ford. So, I decided to give them a chance. Recently, my Tahoe started making a ticking noise when I crank it up. Since I had the extended warranty, I figured I’d let Chevy check it out. They told me to drop it off Friday morning at 7:30 AM for a diagnostic test. It took them until around 4:00 PM to finally get back to me, and I didn’t get my vehicle back until Saturday. Then they charged me $221 for the diagnostic test. Apparently it was “supposed” to cost $250, but they “helped me out” by knocking a little off. Their diagnosis? They claimed I had a catalytic converter issue and said it would cost around $4,600 to fix — and of course, they said it was NOT covered under my extended warranty. I told them I wanted time to think about it, so I picked up my vehicle. Right after leaving Saturday morning, I decided I wanted a copy of the diagnostic report. I texted the same number I had been communicating with Jonathan on and asked for the report. No response. I texted again Monday asking for the report to be emailed to me. Still no response, even though the message clearly said, “This is Five Star Chevy, we will get back to you soon.” When I finally called Jonathan, he claimed he doesn’t personally receive those messages and that they go to the whole department. Funny thing is, the message even had “Probably Jonathan” at the top. Maybe I’m wrong on that part, but regardless, someone received my messages and someone could have responded. Now here’s where things really stopped adding up. After repeatedly asking for the report, Jonathan from the service department told me their machine “does not do printouts” and they could not provide documentation. I found that VERY hard to believe. He even told me I didn’t need their report because he was sure I’d have someone else look at it and they could run their own report. That statement alone told me everything I needed to know. So I took another day off work and went to a different Chevy dealership for a second opinion because none of this was making sense. The second dealership ran diagnostics, printed a full report in less than 5 minutes, and didn’t charge me a dime. Now here’s the best part… There was NOT A SINGLE CODE showing my catalytic converter was bad. I have tried multiple times to speak with a manager at Five Star Chevrolet, and all I’ve gotten is the runaround. They keep trying to blame me and say I should’ve read what the warranty covers. At this point, it’s not even about the warranty anymore. It’s about trying to convince me to spend $4,600 fixing something that apparently wasn’t even wrong with my vehicle — and then refusing to provide documentation afterward. So yes, in my opinion, Five Star Chevrolet in Florence, SC tried to rip me off — and they still got my $221. But I’m working on that part. Long story short: be careful. Always get a second opinion if you use them.
