Shopping for a car

After some research I came into the Framingham office to test drive a vehicle I had looked at many times online but not in person. John was able to get us in a car for a test drive prettty quickly. He was knowledgeable about the car and its options. Even though the dealer was near closing he spent time explaining the process and didn't rush us out the door. He was easy to work with and I would highly recommend his assistance in car buying to friends and family.

Great experience

This week, I found myself unexpectedly without a car. I drive a lot, and needed a replacement quickly. I went to Automax and was quickly set up with a very nice salesman named Matt. I told him how nervous I was, as this was the first time I had bought a car with a dealership. Matt was really reassuring, but realistic with me at the same time in terms of what to expect. Matt helped me find the perfect car for me, and worked with me on what I could afford to pay monthly. Vinny explained all of the numbers and paperwork, and he was very nice as well. Automax took care of setting up my insurance and registering the car, which was also great. It was truly a pleasure to work with Automax, and I highly recommend their service.

Good experience

Good experience. Thanks Matheus! Very good pricing backed up with a pleasant customer experience and a quick turnaround on securing financing and plates in less than 24 hours added up to a very happy customer (me)! I woul highly recommend this bealership.

Purchasing BMW X5 2015

I work with Matt on purchasing a 2015 BMW X5. It was a good experience compare to other places I went for the same car. Matt is very knowledgeable and professional and made the process seems painless. I would recommend anyone who is in the market for a car to work with Matt.

Purchasing Ford Edge.

I worked with Matheus purchasing my 2014 Ford Edge. He did a nice job showing me the vehicle, walking me through pricing and following up on details including ensuring that the vehicle was ready when I needed it. I do feel that the business office may be understaffed as I waited longer than I should have or was promised to get the paperwork done.

Dodged a Bullet

I found a car I wanted online and didn't care about the dealership. Went in with a large down payment, knowing that my credit isn't good (about $7k). They didn't hard sell the car, but hard sold the financing. Westlake agreed to finance me and they are the worst of the worst. A simple Google search revealed they don't report regular payments to the credit companies, they repo cars when there are minimal outstanding fees, etc. etc. The salesperson (Sam), told me I was so, so, so lucky to get any financing. I repeatedly asked to see the terms of the loan they were purposing and was told that it would take a few days. I was also told the car would be removed from the website. Automax happily took a cashier's check for $7000 from me. The car wasn't removed from the website and a friend was able to arrange a test drive. When I went in to retrieve my down payment, I was told I had to wait until next week. This changed after I suggested that there was no contract in place and that I'd call the BBB and Attorney General. Today, when I went to the bank of Automax to cash the check, I was told they have had other people come in who have gone through the same thing. I'm not sure why reviews on this site are so glowing.

Approach with caution and do extensive homework

Bought a car here a few weeks ago and totally fell for the usual used car xx. I was so aggravated by the whole thing I wouldn't recommend someone going here unless you're an expert negotiator because they WILL find ways to wheedle money out of you - they'll just do it with a smile. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Positives: Ian was very pleasant and I believe earnest in his desire to be helpful. He and the team put up with my kids while we worked out the details of the deal. Negatives: Detail: After I drove it home, I came to notice that no one had actually detailed the inside of the car; they had only washed and waxed the outside. I found grease smudges on the glove box, center console and a couple inside doors. On the outside, they actually left masking tape on the top of the car. They also did not touch up some scratches that we'd asked about when we inspected the car. When we got it home, we also noticed for the first time that there was only one (of two) cover on the muffler exhaust. Shame on me for not noticing it while I was there. Paperwork: The finance person did not review paperwork including how costs were calculated, leading to significant confusion and aggravation. The form used indicates that tax is calculated one way, but it should also include the documentation fee. I emailed and called the finance person but got no response. Ian, the sales guy, was the only one who responded at all. The documentation fee is also exorbitant at $599! The MA Office of Consumer Affairs did a survey on other dealerships fees you can google showing this is way higher than most. This deposit I had put on the car for them to bring it to Framingham (even though the website said it was in Framingham) was not automatically taken out of the car deposit - either by purpose or accident - again leading to delays in the refund and aggravation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

No pressure, great selection!

Our salesperson, Ian Schmike, was attentive, personable, and knowledgeable. No pressure. Got us the perfect car. The finance manager also listened to us. Best car-buying experience we've ever had.
