So i call up interested in a particular impreza they have after searching for a while. I speak with the guy and he tells me more information about the... previous owner taking very good care of the car....so i am super interested now. The guy says if i make an appointment they can take it off the lot an hour before i arrive. I give him my name and set an appointment for 6. Get out of work at 5 and rush there. I get to the dealership and they are selling the car to someone else and just said "sorry" and blamed it on their own employees not being trained properly. Then the owner says if i put down a deposit they would have held it. Well if I was asked i would have gladly done so!!! Especially seeing as how i was driving an hour away on a work night. Absolutely disgusted with this dealership's service. Travel an hour out of my way after being misled. I would not trust anything this dealership tells you.

I hate buying cars. I don't know why it has to be so complicated and confusing. , But, Clay made it reasonably easy. I wanted a specific car and... they found it before anyone else, so, I bought it from them. They have good people working for them who helped make the process go smoothly.

We decided to try here because they had a specific used vehicle that we had been looking for. Our experience started out alright, besides the seemingly... forced fake kindness shown by the salesman, which we overlooked as the sales associate was newer and probably just doing what he was told to do. Hopefully down the line, if he stays in sales, it will seem less and less disingenuous. At multiple points during the meet and greet, test drive, etc we were told by the salesman “I make a flat rate on these vehicles so I am here to help you get the best price we can” - another line seemingly spoon-fed by management. The problem is, you can’t say that multiple times then fail to get any more money for the trade and fail to get any more money off the used vehicle despite all of the “$3000 rims” having gashes/scratches due to typical MA driving - the explanation was essentially “all used vehicles in MA” have this and, by the looks of every used vehicle I saw on the lot, this was close to true, but not an excuse I would accept. Salesman became very defensive when I pointed this out and said it was easy to buff this out - if it were so easy, and they are a car dealership with all of those tools, why would they not try to make the used vehicles on the lot not look terrible? The sketchiest part of this was when we were discussing the trade-in: first, they use Kelley Blue Book - which, by all of my 5 friends in the industry’s statements - is not accurate at all for trade-ins. Second, I had looked up the trade value on multiple sites the night before (Kelley, Edmunds and NADA) just so I had an idea of the value - the sales associate pulls it up on his phone and spins it momentarily to show us from 3 feet away what the car is worth and how the manager was “giving us a deal by giving us more than this”. When I state that I had looked it up the night before and that number was not close to accurate, he again gets defensive and accusatory. I try to show him by pulling it up on my phone again and it would literally not let my pull up KBB - it had some sort of error message - I tried on my GFs phone, thinking it was just my phone, and it said the same thing although I had 0 issue pulling it up the night before and that morning. I was not connected to their WiFi and magically I could not pull up the site they used for valuing trades - this seems very sketchy to me and immediately killed whatever little respect I had tried to give them from the start. All around subpar experience and definitely not worth the trip. We ended with stating we were going to go to another local Subaru dealer that had the same vehicle, just in a different color - to which the response was something along the lines of, in another sarcastically defensive tone of course, “it probably doesn’t have the same low miles as this one”. I assured him it did along with pictures of all the wheels showing no damage and let him know that we would not be back.

Joe was my sales guy and he was nice, did not pressure me and was very accommodating. When I picked up my car (on his day off)he took the time to go over... the features of the car and make sure I had no additional question. I bought my first car from Clay and I am happy I went to a new clay dealership and had a similar experience.

This is our third from Clay and we will keep coming back! They made the process of ordering a new Ascent easy and got it in our hands as soon as it got... there. Joe made it easy for us and was very accommodating! Working with the rest of the team was a breeze too. The drive home was fun, get the Ascent!

Everyone I encountered on the Clay Subaru sales team was incredibly helpful. They had the car I wanted for the price I wanted and they weren't afraid of... me shopping around like many of the other dealers were. Tony was my sales guy and since I already had located the car I wanted he just made it happen-- simple, effective, time-efficient process. Edward was super helpful and personable in the finance office and helped educate me on what I was getting myself into. Laura went above and beyond in helping me with the registration, and advocating for me when I ran into hiccups with my particular circumstances. Allison was incredibly efficient and effective getting me a quote for the car I wanted right away (which other dealers were secretive about, probably because they knew I could find a better price elsewhere). The place didn't have that gross, salesy feel like so many of the other places I had been to did (you know, with the sales manager visibly, literally, and physically watching over a legion of stressed salespeople who seem to hate their job). I imagine their corporate structure is, contrary to what I understand about most other dealerships, more conducive to fairly compensating its employees and delivering quality service to its customers... but I can only speak to the latter. Thanks so much, I love my new Subaru, and I hope that Clay continues to thrive in its business because there are some good people there selling great products and delivering better customer service than its competitors.

Overpriced. Asked to diagnose an issue by the service department. They said it was ok but still have the same issue as before. Even with an appointment... takes forever.
