I really dislike this dealership, and it's where I bought

I really dislike this dealership, and it's where I bought my 2018 Mazda 6 sport. No dealership is really good. I mean they're called Stealerships for a reason. However, this is too much. I called and spoke to the sales manager, Patrick. I called in and I asked what I might be able to get for my car, and I didn't tell them that it was me. I just wanted to get an unbiased answer, so I just asked as someone who wanted to know what that type of car might sell for. Patrick told me that that type of car is one that is sought after, because they equipped producing it. Also, the low mileswere of interest to him. He told me that he would probably put that on The lot for in the range of $20,000 plus. Basically said it would be in the 20s. I questioned it, because it didn't seem right. Although, I have seen Mazdas selling for that figure. I specifically asked if trade in would be any better than just them buying the car, and he said it wouldn't make any difference. I went in, and I think I spent about 45 minutes waiting there, and they came back with the 14,000 dollar offer on my car with 29,700 mi on it. My car has no issues going on with it and it's in good shape.I consider it to be an excellent condition, and it has no interior or exterior damage. No wrecks. It would require a small amount of detailing and that's probably it. It's still under warranty. The powertrain and transmission are still covered. I was just so surprised, and I just left. I said thank you and walked out. It's interesting to me that I'm the way in you don't have much negotiating power, and on the way out, you have no negotiating power. Basically they see the car as having value until you want to get money from it. I understand that in 2021 we had a car shortage, but still, this car is worth more than they were asking. Even Mazda out on a 122nd told me it would be between $16, 500 and 18,000 for trade in or for purchasing by a dealership. I don't like it when people waste my time. I think they could have told me it was very unlikely they were going to give me much more than that, even just with having a few pictures. I have a lot of pictures of my car. Car dealerships like to sell out at the highest price and give you the lowest price when it comes down to it. Stay far away from Mazda of Gladstone. If you do want to buy a Mazda, you might want to head out to Ron Tonkin on 122nd and Portland. You could ask to talk to Tim, these service manager, if you pick out a car. He is so nice! Any car you're buying you should be checked out very well.I hope this helps somebody, and I'm not saying that Mazda is a bad car. It's a good car. I just wouldn't trust this dealership. Try to get a car with the lowest amount of miles, the fewest amount of drivers and preferably only one driver, and a car with no accidents. Make sure that the car fax report is clean, and also leave with two key fobs. They tried to give me one, and I fought that in 2021. I got two. Make that part of the negotiation, as well as get a maintenance contract.

Dealer response

Thank you for your review.

Consumer response

Kelley Bluebook on this car is a lot higher. Explaining why to a client is par for the course. I fully believe that the car will be sold for 20 to 21K. I already had a hard offer of $17,400. I was coming to Mazda, because you said these cars were good. I actually am not interested in knowing why. It's not likely to have much substance to it. I think if you buy for $14, detail isn't that much, and inspection means little to me. I was told what goes into that by the sales manager when I bought. He said they can't look much beyond cursory, because it could cause issues. I asked if certain things had been looked at. CPO is best likely, but don't put a lot of stock into that. I know any dealership will make about 2K on this car, at least! Buying at 17 o 18 thousand allows for a profit. I don't feel bad for dealerships. While service wasn't my favorite, they scored better. I'd give them about 3 stars. Some day I'll review. As much as I might have been ok with that experience, other customers haven't been as lucky. I feel pleased I didn't get a total disaster. One person got a new car that had a check engine light. I guess Mazda doesn't hold its value and cars aren't as good as they used to be. No need to respond.
