I recently placed an order to lease a custom 2026 BMW X3 M50. I hate car dealership experiences and prefer online transactional interactions. Maggie Chu at Competition BMW was amazing. Answered all of my questions, was always to the point, did not try to steer me towards anything I was not interested in and simply made my entire experience fantastic. Please see/email Maggie if in the market for a new BMW. My first foray into the BMW family exceeded my expectations. Thank you Maggie for a wonderful car leasing experience.

Amazing amazing experience leasing my new 330 with Joao (John)! Blows my previous experience out of the water! My business manager Adam was a professional as well. This place really knows what they are doing when it comes to luxury experiences. Highly recommend anyone considering their next BMW purchase to make it Competition BMW :)

Jonathan pizzo honest, reliable, and keeps you updated step-by-step on the repairs process to my vehicle. Helga Carroll helped renew my warranty today and she answered all questions and addressed all concerns making me confident in the decision I made. Smithtown BMW staff makes you feel like family when you walk through the door.

The Best Car Buying Experience I Have Ever Had - courtesy of Nina Maldanado and Helga Carroll at Competition BMW.   After an exhaustive search spanning five BMW dealerships on Long Island, I arrived at Competition BMW in Smithtown. I knew from the moment I walked in that they were in a different class of dealership than I had previously visited, as I was immediately greeted by the Sales Manager with a firm handshake, and his commitment to a solid experience for me. I was then introduced to Nina Maldanado, my Sales Advisor, who immediately struck me with her warm countenance and professional demeanor. Nina would prove to be best-in-class, and hands-down, the finest Sales Advisor I have ever worked with in nearly two decades of car shopping. My five-year old son was with me for my first visit, and Nina could not have been sweeter to him - asking him questions, giving him candy and drawing paper, and answering all of the questions that a five-year old is liable to ask. When I found the car that I had settled on - a beautiful 2021 black BMW 228i Gran Coupe, Nina and I discussed the particulars of the car, and began speaking about financing, eventually agreeing on the financing terms. A short aside here - I have bought over 10 cars in my life, and in each prior car-buying experience, I have discussed financing terms with a Sales Advisor only to have those terms discarded (and increased) when discussing the same with the Finance Manager. This was not the case with Nina and Helga Carroll (my Finance Manager at Competition). When Nina directed me to Helga's office, we sat down, and Helga presented me the exact terms that Nina and I had discussed and agreed upon. Helga may not have noticed, but I nearly fell out of my chair. Based on my past car-buying experience, I had expected the agreed-upon terms to have increased significantly. I was both surprised and delighted, and from that point forward, I knew that I was going to move forward with Competition. When pickup day finally arrived - after the car had been conditioned and the last bit of maintenance performed - my new BMW was waiting for me prominently in the parking lot with a giant red bow. I'm not usually one for theatrical gestures, but this one landed for me, and my son. I went into the dealership with my five-year old son, and met Nina, who greeted us warmly, and proceeded to take me on a tour of the features in my new car. Once we had concluded the tour of my new ride, Nina delivered me to Helga, who was incredibly friendly, professional, and efficient. I should note here that there was ZERO pressure to purchase any additional warranties, insurance, or upsells; Helga told me what my options were, and that was that. Both Nina and Helga are absolute credits to their profession, and to Competition BMW, which is itself a credit to its industry. This was easily the best car-buying experience I have ever had. I will happily recommend Competition, Nina, and Helga to anyone who is in the market for a BMW. Bravo, and best regards. Chris

I can't say enough about working with this dealership and specifically John Oliveria and Helga Carroll. I live in San Diego and found the exact car I want all the way in NY at this dealership. Buying a car unseen and not being there in person can be a little scary. John was extremely professional the entire time. Communicating with me over the days of the transaction and not being pushy at all. The price alone on the vehicle was great to begin with with very low miles. I found the exact same vehicle somewhere else with double the miles, but for $3,000. They didn't budge on the advertised internet price, but I feel that the price was more than fair to begin with. Helga was also great to work with! Very professional, responsive, made adjustments on the fly when I needed, and overall made the process very smooth. Thank you for all your help!

I had a 12:00 PM appointment with Adam. My initial appointment was at 11:00 AM, but Adam called me to move it at 12:00. I was at BMW at 12:00 and I notified the front desk. I was waiting with my wife for 50 minutes. At 12:50 we decided to leave. Neither Adam nor another person came to update us to why there was such a delay. Very unprofessional!

They are disorganized and Not customer focused. They are Dishonest and misleading. The customer is often reminded that they are just dollar signs. There is no real evidence to show they care. The customer is not listened to and twice trash from service was left in the vehicle.

On a recent visit to my local BMW dealership, I had the following experience. Mohammad Sultan, the “sales manager” that had to approve my trade in and an order for a new car was nothing but rude and insulting. He spoke to me like I was a child that knew nothing about BMW or cars in general and offered me $8,000 less for my trade in, which is a 2021 BMW with 9300 miles and in near perfect condition. In addition to that he was going to charge me $2,000 over the sticker price for the new car that I was ordering from the factory! Let me add that I have purchased over a dozen new vehicles from that dealership over the past 27 years. When questioned about the difference of the price of my trade he went on to say that “Your vehicle needs extensive reconditioning”. I was flabbergasted and asked what in the world he was talking about since there is nothing wrong with my car and I recently had the vehicle appraised in person by CarMax and they found no issues. He then started his spiel about the tires being dry rotted, which of course they are not. I have heard other dealers lie to customers about the same thing, so I immediately knew he was not to be trusted. I took my key back and left the dealership letting them know that I would NEVER return to a place that takes advantage of their customers. I would advise anyone who is in the market for a new/used BMW to shop around, most dealers on Long Island are part of a group of dealers, competition being one of them, be very careful and do your research. An honest dealership should never charge you more than MSRP for a car they order from the factory! They should also be honest and fair, but that is too much to hope for in these days of extreme dealer greed. I will be reporting their conduct to BMW USA, BBB, NY State Department of Consumer affairs, Dealer Ratings.com and anywhere else that will hopefully help others from getting ripped off! Caveat emptor – Let the Buyer Beware!

I tried to order a new 230i from Competition BMW and it was a complete waste of time. The sales rep did not know his BMW products and when I asked him to check into Performance Center Delivery he refused and told me I was wrong. Just a horrible experience!!!! The good news is I ordered it from another dealer nearby and he gave me an even BETTER deal! Thanks Competition BMW- I would not have gotten the deal without you!
