Warned but didn't listen.

Warned but didn't listen. I was warned not to waste my time with this dealership, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake. I made an appointment to drive a specific vehicle. The salesman confirmed the appointment multiple times, including two hours before I left for the dealership. I drove over an hour to get there. When I arrived, the vehicle was gone. After some back and forth, the salesman finally came out and said, “I think the owner took the car.” That was the explanation. No apology. No urgency. No attempt to find out where the vehicle was. No offer to help. No attempt to make up for the fact that I had driven over an hour based on an appointment they had confirmed two hours earlier. And it gets worse. The “manager” stayed hidden in his office until we demanded to speak with him. He eventually, very reluctantly, stepped out—only to offer absolutely nothing of value. He had no explanation, no solution, and apparently no interest in addressing what had happened. So after driving over an hour for a confirmed appointment, we were essentially given a shrug. If the owner, Penuel “Raj” Clement, took the vehicle, then someone at this dealership should have had the basic professionalism to contact a customer before they drove two hours round trip. Instead, everyone stood around while we wasted our time. This was a complete failure of communication, customer service, and accountability from the salesman to management. I was warned. I should have listened.

FORD RECALL REPAIR: CLEMENT FORD VS.

FORD RECALL REPAIR: CLEMENT FORD VS. JIM TRENARY FORD We received a recall notice from Ford for a free repair to the rear end of our Ford Explorer. The notice instructed us to contact any Ford dealership, so we scheduled an appointment with Clement Ford in Wentzville, Missouri. After inspecting our vehicle, Clement Ford told us it could not perform the free recall repair unless we first paid $292 for a front-end alignment. They also claimed that our vehicle needed a complete brake overhaul costing more than $650. Their total estimate exceeded $1,100 in customer-paid work—all presented in connection with what was supposed to be a free recall repair. We declined the additional work and left. The recall repair was not performed. When we returned home, we contacted Ford Customer Relations. The Ford representative confirmed that Clement Ford should not have required us to pay for an alignment or other unrelated repairs as a condition of completing the recall repair. While we remained on the phone, the representative contacted Clement Ford. After leaving us on hold for approximately 20 minutes, he returned and told us that Clement Ford claimed it had completed the recall repair on our vehicle. That statement was completely false. The repair had not been performed, and we immediately told the representative so. The Ford representative then contacted Jim Trenary Ford on our behalf and transferred us directly to its Service Department, where we scheduled an appointment. On August 27, 2026, we took our Explorer to Jim Trenary Ford. They replaced the defective rear-end part under the recall at no cost to us. They also performed a front-end alignment at no charge because replacing the recalled rear-end part affected the vehicle’s alignment. This raises a serious question: Clement Ford told us that we had to pay for a front-end alignment before it could perform the rear-end recall repair. If the recall repair itself affected the alignment, would our vehicle then have needed to be aligned a second time? It is also worth noting that Clement Ford quoted $292 for the alignment, while Jim Trenary Ford’s regular price for the same service is $153—and Jim Trenary performed it at no cost because it was required as part of the recall repair. We are senior citizens living on a fixed income. We trusted Clement Ford to perform the recall repair at no cost, as Ford promised. Instead, we were presented with more than $1,100 in proposed charges, refused the free recall repair when we declined those charges, and then learned that Clement Ford had falsely told Ford Customer Relations that the repair had been completed. Shame on Clement Ford for treating customers this way. We believe its handling of this recall appointment was dishonest and appeared designed to pressure us into paying for costly additional work. We are grateful to Ford Customer Relations and Jim Trenary Ford for stepping in and ensuring that both the recall repair and the alignment it required were completed.

Dealer response

I would like to apologize for your experience Mr. Verprees. We never want anyone leaving with a negative impression. I have looked into the repairs on your visit to find out what happened. I can confirm that the recall was performed while you were here. We are required to keep warranty parts until Ford advises us to either send them back or discard them. I am not sure why Ford and Jim Trenary misled you on this. We did set the toe after performing the recall, which is all Ford pays for. I do have pictures showing that the rear lower control arm is bent and requires replacement. This is a separate concern from the recall and would have been at your expense if you wanted to repair it. That is the quote that was provided to you. The technician did state that he can't guarantee the alignment with the bent part on the vehicle. I am sure Trenary informed you of this as well. We also have pictures of the condition of your brake pads. We did suggest the repairs to you, but didn't stop the recall from being performed. The brake pad is between 2 and 3/32nds and require replacement. I am sure Trenary informed you on this as well. I have talked with my staff on the importance of making sure the customer understands the information that we are providing. I know how frustrating and confusing it can be hearing about repairs on a vehicle. I do have the pictures on record if you ever want them. I will be happy to send them to you. I would like to apologize again for the confusion between the advisor and yourself. There will be advisor coaching so this doesn't occur in the future. Please reach out to me at [email protected] if you have any further concerns, questions, or would like those pictures. Thank you

Very poor first impression.

Very poor first impression. I was looking at one of Clement Ford’s vehicles online and asked for the Carfax. Instead of simply providing it, they wanted my contact information first. That’s completely unnecessary and immediately felt like an attempt to turn a basic information request into a sales lead. I’ve looked at vehicles from numerous other dealerships, and the Carfax is typically available directly from the online vehicle listing with no personal information required. There is no reason a customer should have to give up their phone number or other contact information just to see the history of a used vehicle they’re considering. Clement Ford already has an unusually low review rating, and after this experience, I understand why. If the process is this difficult before I’ve even walked through the door, I have no interest in finding out what the rest of the buying experience is like. I’ll take my business to a dealership that is more transparent and makes it easy for customers to research a vehicle before handing over their personal information.

My experience with Randy started out very well.

My experience with Randy started out very well. The purchase itself was smooth, and I initially had a positive impression of him and the dealership. Unfortunately, everything changed when I returned with concerns about my vehicle. Rather than working toward a resolution, I felt that my concerns were dismissed, and our interactions became increasingly adversarial. What disappointed me most, however, was Randy's decision to include information about where I work and details from our private conversations in a public response to my Google review. I found that unnecessary, unprofessional, and not necessary to the underlying vehicle dispute. Even when a customer raises concerns that a dealership disagrees with, I believe those concerns should be handled respectfully and without making private conversations or personal information part of a public exchange. Based on my experience after the sale, I cannot recommend working with Randy or Clement Ford.

I bought a brand new F250 that is currently sitting in my driveway without license plates because they didn't submit the paperwork until 5/26 to the licensing company and they did not send correct payment and only after I contacted them and basically threw a fit did they finally respond to the licensing company to provide payment. The GM was a jerk and very disrespectful. I still don't have a second key or my plates.

The buying experience went well it’s after I left the dealership that became a problem. They don’t return their phone calls. They still haven’t given me my paperwork. I bought the car on April 20 and I finally spoke with somebody yesterday that told me my packet with my title and everything needed to go to the DMV would be ready June 11. That’s unacceptable. This dealership doesn’t do what they say they’re going to do or communicate avoid them.

DO NOT BUY HERE.

DO NOT BUY HERE. DO NOT SERVICE HERE. RUN AWAY. I made the worst decision of my life trusting Clement Ford. These crooks straight-up stole $12,000 from me for an engine replacement and then completely xxxxed up my entire car. Now they refuse to warranty it or give me a new engine and THEY are the ones who screwed it up in the first place. The service department is a total scam operation. They quoted me the job, took my money, and somehow managed to destroy my vehicle even worse than it was before. Rattles everywhere, warning lights that never existed, and the "new" engine they installed is a complete disaster. When I brought it back demanding they fix their mess, they gaslit me, refused any responsibility, and basically told me to pound sand. No warranty help, no new engine, no refund... nothing. Just pure greed and incompetence.

At first i was impressed with Clement Ford.

At first i was impressed with Clement Ford. My purchase experience was great. Then I got home. I realized there was no inspection sticker and the buttons for traction control and auto stop dont work. No biggie I thought. I contacted their chat and was told someone would email me to answer if i needed an inspection sticker and how to get the buttons fixed. 24 hours later and i have not received any contact. I tried again and was told to call the service department. I can't do that because I have ptsd and phone calls give me extreme anxiety. When I told the online agent that they just stopped chatting. The online chat is useless if the person chatting cant answer simple questions.
