The dealer folk were available via phone and email, they knew the vehicle I was interested in and were able to adjust some of the vehicle specifics for me at purchase time. There was no pressure sell tactic(s), and the actual sale / negotiation was very smooth. The dealer and their staff know a bunch about Toyota trucks / SUVs, and were happy to chat about what was good/bad about the particular vehicle and their other offerings.

Please don't buy anything form Chris Lanier or 4x4 Rides without putting your hands on it and thoroughly checking it out. He represented a 2006 Land Cruiser as "this truck is awesome" beautiful" runs great" "undercarriage looks good" "detailed" , said he was going to drive it home and back (120 miles round trip) to be sure it was right but never did -per the odometer. When it was delivered it would barely start and shudders when it does, the check engine light was and is still on, there was and still is, fluid dripping out of the engine, the windshield has a large crack in the center of it, the front end creaks and grinds, the undercarriage is rusted, paint is shot, speakers don't work, as well as other things - it is an undriveable wreck. It hasn't moved in a month. I paid $18,200 for it because I trusted him as a veteran owned business and a long-time follower of his you tube page, and he took full advantage of that trust. I actually told him that if this wasn't the truck he thought I wanted I would wait for another because I wanted to buy one from him, and he wrote "this truck is awesome" "I would drive this truck" so I sent him the money. I have all of this in writing. I beleives he sets up trusting people like me and send them his wrecks, thinking they will not do the work to get their money back. I have reached out to him multiple times and asked him to make it right and to take it back. I have not gotten a reply. I am semi retired and have plenty of time to drive to Hagerstown. I may picket the business in the next couple of weeks.. (FYI - You don't need a permit to picket in Hagerstown Maryland, if you are one to five people, carrying signs, and standing on public ground, like a sidewalk - per the county website). If he still won't do the right thing, I'll be pulling the pile of junk back up to Hagerstown and filing suit in Maryland and Tennessee for well in excess of the $18,200.

BEWARE!!! Unethical business practices, lie about the vehicle's history, condition, how they bought it. A VIN check showed actual vehicle condition from the auction were they bought it after originally telling me they bought from the original owner. The vehicle was abused and sold at auction for under $5K and 4X4RIDES listed it for $23500 stating it was a one owner well maintained vehicle. While maybe a one owner it was far from maintained. The website of the auction house has pictures of the rear quarter panel rotted out and the very poor overall condition of the 2001 Chevy Tahoe. It was auctioned by Copart, Inc. in MD that provides services for selling used, salvage, and repairable vehicles through online auctions. 4X4RIDES, Chris told me the SUV was never in an accident but the Carfax Report says it was. Chris lied to me about that and said it was minor scratch. Very dishonest person and very unethical business practices painting a picture that the car was well maintained.

I left this business a good review earlier this year after buying a 4Runner from them, however a recent experience with them was very frustrating. After multiple phone calls and emails I finally was able to make an appointment to get an estimate on mechanical services, but when I showed up that day (which I took off work for) they said I wasn’t on the books… uhhh what? Eventually they said they’d try to squeeze me in later that day… ok… When I returned to get the estimate they hadn’t written it up yet and said they’d email it to me. It’s been over 2 weeks and I enquired about it but still no response. Wow. They clearly don’t want my business. The ladies in the office are friendly and knowledgeable, however the business practices are definitely shady. They’ve repeatedly made me feel like an inconvenience to them. Will be getting services and mods done elsewhere. I could actually say a lot more about how unhappy I am with 4x4 Rides and their poor quality work but I’ll leave it at that. But I will add that when chatting with another customer in the lot who had just bought something from them online and was there to pick it up said it was nothing like how it was photographed and described. He seemed pretty bummed. It’s a shame this isn’t a good reliable business.

I recently bought a Toyota 4Runner from 4x4 Rides and traded in my old car to them. Overall it was a smooth easy transaction. They held the truck for me while it was getting the state inspection, and worked with me on the price of the parts and labor needed to pass the inspection. They were honest, pleasant to work with, were knowledgeable and able to answer my questions, and were quick to respond on the phone and in email. They even recommended a financing company, Lightstream, which I easily signed up with to purchase the truck. Overall buying through 4x4 Rides was a good experience and I would have work done or buy from them again in the future. Thanks to Chris, Sara and Veronica who all worked with me. I love my 4Runner!

Everyone is friendly and very knowledgeable about 4WD vehicles, especially Toyota SUVs like Land Cruisers and 4Runners. That seems to be their niche. They mostly had Toyotas but also had a Honda Ridgeline, a Hummer, Jeep Wranglers, and a few Lexus when I was there. There was a mix of newer vehicles and classics. Would definitely recommend buying your next 4WD from them! Super easy to work with. No pressure sales.
