I initially received what appeared to be a fair appraisal. Later, a representative called to say the appraisal was likely below the vehicle?s true value and suggested that an in-person evaluation would probably lead to a higher offer. My wife and I drove 40 minutes to the dealership for our scheduled appointment and arrived on time. After a 45-minute inspection, the revised offer came back $5,000 lower than the original appraisal. The car was in excellent condition inside and out, with only minor scratches on all four wheels. I was told the wheel repairs would cost $3,800, which seemed unreasonable, especially since I had similar damage on another vehicle repaired to factory-new condition for $800. Based on my knowledge of the car sales industry, I felt the explanation was misleading. I told the representative I would sell the car only for the original appraisal amount and not a cent less. The second offer was still $2,000 below that amount, so my wife and I left. I ultimately sold the car to another business, even though its appraisal was $1,000 less than AutoNation?s final offer, because I preferred accepting the loss over doing business with people I felt were manipulative and dishonest.

We could not have had a better experience!
