    Today I brought my 2015 Lexus IS250 Sport in for my state inspection. This was my first time with Lexus and previously had my Honda for 10 years (I had a great experience with my Honda dealer). My service associate was polite and I assumed that since I had a one year old car, I would be finished within two hours so I chose to wait for my car. After an hour, my service associate politely informed me that there was an issue with my car. My front tire had sidewall damage and would need to be replaced. I was quoted at almost $300/tire (which I expected and knew when I purchased the car). He suggested that I purchase a minimum of two tires even though my tread grade was 5/7 on my other tires (I was told by him that the state minimum is 2/7). That quote was approximately $600. I then informed him that I pay for the tire and wheel protection monthly, and shouldn't my tire with sidewall damaged tire be replaced under that program? I was surprised that he wouldn't check first and see what service programs I was a member of before approaching me with a quote. He informed me about 30min later that this was covered and suggested a wheel alignment which I agreed to. He then proceeded to tell me that I was overdue for my 15,000 mile service and strongly recommended I get it. He told me this would cost $375 and I asked him what they could possibly be doing that could justify almost $400. He then printed the list of items covered in the 15,000 service (tire rotation, inspecting brake lines, pads, engine lines, windshield wipers and other menial items etc). My question to him was, since I am here for a state inspection, wouldn't you do all of those items (except tire rotation) with the inspection? He then seemed taken aback and confirmed that those inspections were in fact done during a state inspection. At this point I smiled and politely said, "Please replace the front tire that is covered under my protection plan, do the wheel alignment ($20), rotate my tires, and perform my inspection." He told me that I did not have to have my tires rotated since I was only replacing one tire. I said okay, and then proceeded to look up my warranty information. I was surprised to find out that under the basic warranty, wheel alignments up to 12 months of ownership/20,000 miles (whichever comes first) was covered. When I approached the service associate with this information, he said that he would check with his manager because my misalignment was due to "damage". At this point I had now been at the dealership for about 90 minutes. I was told that my alignment would be covered and I figured hey, they inspected it already I just need them to pop a tire on, align it and I'm ready to go. 3 and a half hours later almost 4 hours after I arrived, I was finally leaving the dealership. Although I wasn't happy about the wait what really bothers me is how this dealership would have potentially taken advantage of me for about $1000. I am a well educated woman in my 20's that works very hard to pay for this one luxury. I just wanted to warn others that if you are going to this dealership for service, be very well versed and aware of your coverage because unlike my 10 year relationship with Honda, Lexus soured my experience for them within 4 hours.
