2017 Ford Escape consumer reviews

I bought the car new, after ~4450 miles it required a new engine due to coolant loss caused by a cracked block. New engine has ~5500 miles on it ~9980 miles total on the car. New engine after 5000 miles bellows out black smoke on rapid acceleration merging onto highways and interstates. Engine service light comes on for 30 secs to a couple of minutes and so far has gone out again. Only showed engine codes on one occasion P0302 and P0304. A total of six events between May and August 2022. Some additional coolant loss but a very small amount. I would not buy another Escape and probably not another Ford. The dealership has been next to useless in trying to fix this issue.

Absolutely not. Avoid this car. - Major issues with EcoBoost engines leaking coolant onto the cylinder heads; - the under hood design is ridiculous.... Replacing a battery requires either roving the windshield wipers and the entire upper cowl, OR removing the air filter and its entire assembly. I just want to get to the battery, my dudes; - engine lag on the turbo boost makes the car feel very unresponsive. It is not an enjoyable drive, maintenance is a disaster, and the fact that Ford is allowed to still exist in spite of their EcoBoost engine design borders on criminal.

Had the car for one year motor is in limp mode will not start mechanic says needs new motor but can’t get one because not made them yet stuck paying for this car setting ing my driveway

I would absolutely love this car... If i could actually drive it more than a month or so without it breaking down. There are recalls that's great but too little too late. I have no way to get around while i waiton recalls and parts . I have a pregnant daughter who has to go to the dr 2 times a week and i can't even get her there like i committed to found to help them so far didn't miss too much work that he can ill afford

At 109,000 and still running great. Having the 100,00 mile recommended work done this week. This included replacing the timing belt which is recommended with milage between 100,000 and 150,000. Very happy with my Escape which I bought new. Hope it lasts another 100,000 miles with the cost of a new vehicle these days.

Do not buy the Escape. Look up the field service actions on the vehicle. All Escapes should be on recall for cylinder head gasket failure. Less than 40,000 miles and began having slow/rough starts, stalling, rattling etc., very dangerous to drive on the highway. Not worth the hassle.

I own a 2017 Ford Escape. The paint around front window is peeling. I only noticed 2 months ago. Upon contacting Ford I was told that because there is no recall and the warranty expired that they aren't willing to pay for even half the cost. I know of 4 other blue Escapes that are dealing with the same issue. Ford should definitely own up to the error on their part. I've always owned a Ford but if they won't stand behind their products I no longer will.

I'm writing on behalf of my daughter's 2017 Ford Escape engine is causing the car to shake. She has 60,000 miles on her explorer. Certain Ford Escapes are on recall but her's isn't, according to Kelly Blue Book. I have reached out to the Kbb moderator to contact my daughter via email on getting this matter resolved. This is a manufacturing issue. Repairs can range from $3500 to $4000. Some Ford Escapes do not have a dipstick so you can't check the engine oil. My daughter's make and model doesn't have a dipstick. A mechanic would have to look at. I have read the reviews and googled information regarding the Ford Escapes, that states, the vehicles engines go bad at 80,000 - 100,000 miles. My daughter 60,000 miles on her vehicle, and is having engine problems. She's had the car 5 years🤔 and needs it to commute back and forth to work. I was always told, when the engine is bad, you need a new car.

Comfortable seating. Good visibility. Plenty quick and powerful with the 2 liter turbo. Very good handling and brakes. Nice rear view camera. I tried all the competition and none were as complete as our Escape

I'm currently making payments on an SUV I cannot drive. Our mechanic has tried everything. We now have to have the transmission checked out, because it's the only thing he doesn't work on. A new transmission is not what we planned on when buying a car that was only 2-years-old when we purchased it.
