Luxury for your money

I love my Acura MDX. I bought it gently used and have no regrets. The leather is soft, cushions comfortable for road trips, great space for luggage and kids. I love the three driving mode options. Sport for some quick get up, Comfort for a road trip and Normal for commuting. The display is large and easy to use. Speaker sound quality is impeccable. Gas mileage is unbelievable for a car of its size, I average 22-24 miles per gallon with everyday driving and as high as 26 miles per gallon on road trips. There are numerous seat settings allowing you to practically customize the drivers seat and you can adjust the steering wheel. The cost of regular maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations in the Seattle area is reasonable. The only design “flaw” that I struggle with are the center cup holders. One is larger than the other so sometimes the drinks in the larger cup holder wobble more causing some spillage. Also, because it has more gears than usual sometimes the automatic shifting takes a minute to get into a comfortable gear mainly on hills. It takes a minute to get used to the multiple gears. I have no major complaints. Great car for a single person looking for a fun, stylish, luxurious and reliable car. Also great for a small family with plenty of second row room for car seats and third row space for booster seats or kids without seating assistance.

Luxury along with reliability of honda

Excellent drive with excellent options. I have the advanced package with entertainment and it’s totally worth the price difference than the base model. Feels very stable especially when driving in snow.

Great road trip vehicle

Purchased certified used SH AWD 2016 MDX with 29K miles in 08/2019 for my wife. This is our first Acura and she absolutely loves it. The seats are extremely comfortable on trips, interior is quiet, back seat is roomy and there's plenty of room in the back for all our luggage. It has enough power to tackle hills and passing but don't expect muscle car acceleration. Contrary to some reviews I've seen, we like the auto transmission and it seems to almost always be in the right gear to maintain power. We'll definitely be keeping this one long term.

Bread crumb will disable your MDX

This is almost hard to believe - but.... we own an MDX with push button transmission controls. We hate it! Not only is the lack of a shift handle awkward, the push buttons allow any dust or crumbs to collect around the edges of the shift buttons. When a crumb makes its way to just the right (or wrong) place it will trick the computer into a state of idiot lice confusion and render the car unusable. In one instance we we’re driving on the interstate at 70mph when the car just went into neutral all by itself. We made it to the shoulder and had to be towed 180 miles. Do yourself a favor - and don’t by an Acura.

Heat/Air Control poor design/auto start stop bad

Only vehicle we have ever had trouble with the heat and air controls. For example: On a hot day, you would set the temp to what you want it to be. Air comes out like the heater is on in the back seat. You must set to "LOW" or you will not get any cold air. Talked to many people at dealership and on the Acura phone line to complain. They more or less said this was not the car for you to buy apparently. What??? Auto start stop drives me crazy. Would prefer to be able to turn off completely.

It is an average Vehicle. Price is too high

Plenty of leg rooms, GPS stinks,UsB charger not not give enough power to charge and no easy access. Rear suspension is rough and hard.Brake cylinders and calipers are of inferior quality.they are not properly coated with salt resistant. Acura doesn't recommend synthetic oil. audio system is good. shoul have had a blind spot camera, safety features are good. r suspension is

Good SUV with poor transmission

Was on the fence between the MDX and Toyota Highlander. The MDX met all of the criteria I wanted in a moderately priced luxury SUV. The comfort is unbelievable and third row seating and tech pkg. have served the grand children well. The new for 2016 nine speed transmission shifts abruptly at low speeds and has trouble finding where it wants to live in stop and go city traffic. The service department at my local Acura dealership told me that the transmission was operating normally within its design parameters. Unfortunately it has taken the fun out of driving what is otherwise a great SUV. A longer test drive in the MDX would have taken me back to the Toyota dealership.
