OK after nine years

by Car guy from North Carolina on Fri Jul 03 2009

After 9 years the car still rides well but has suffered more "issues" than other cars I have had. This is the first car to have to be towed with less than 100K on the odometer. Computer module failure. The trim is shakey with various pieces coming loose or failing off. Fuel mileage is not so hot, 18 city 22-23 highway. Otherwise the car is good, 95K miles and running well. Hope it lasts another 50K or 5 years.

overal great car!

by acuraman4life from Fitzgerald Ga on Tue Apr 04 2017

I have an 2000 Acura RL it has 2000 miles and with that age interior body held up very well its a testament to a well built car, the engine still runs and sounds great and transmission, Im definitely not afraid to buy a high miles 3.5 Acura Im going to try to get 3500 thousand miles on this car or if Im lucky maybe more engine sounds great at 2000k miles so why not overall very well built, keep the maintenance up on one of these and you will never have problems the Bose sound system is the best plenty of room in car a roomy car that is plenty of trunk space keep a great battery for the electrical components like power seats and all the power options you will be OK, what else can i say about these cars, besides great choice long lasting, my choice of cars is the RL

Fast comfortable but not cutting edge

by Car Geek from Connecticut on Tue Dec 18 2007

I've owned this car for 4 years, driving it about 55K miles. It has performed well, is comfortable, capable of high speed cruising but isn't very efficient, averaging only about 19-20 mpg on premium fuel. It has recently developed some interior rattles in the steering column that are annoying. The trunk mounted CD player is not a plus but is also now dated technology, but still works.

First class!

by Quality car lover from FLA on Tue Jul 03 2007

A well engineered, quality built, luxury car which is practical. Beautiful fit and finish. First class interior. Performance and handling, however, are not memorable. A luxury car, but not sporty.

Most reliable car I have ever owned

by Contented Acura Owner from Hendersonville, NC on Sun Jun 08 2014

I bought this car with about 30K on the odometer, which now shows 240K. The car is still supremely reliable and operates almost as well as it ever did. All I have ever done - outside regular maintenance - is replace a fuel pump. My only complaint is that car is not great on gas, but I would still purchase another one without hesitation. The car owes me nothing!

Our Take on the 2000 Acura RL

ACURA 3.5RL: QUIET AND SMOOTH YET LESS THAN SPECTACULAR

It's shakeout time in Luxury Sedan City.

Time was, as drivers aged, they longed for that Caddy, Lincoln, or Benz, the bigger the better, the softer and boatier the ride the better.

Time was.

Now, automakers are trying to find just the right luxury sedan to keep the aging wave of baby boomers from opting en masse for swank SUVs and even fancy pickup trucks. So while they are covering their flanks by building myriad variations of the latter pair, they are also trying to find just the right luxury sedan: Lincoln with its 2000 LS, Mercedes with its sportier 2000 S Class, Cadillac with its Seville SLS.

And Acura with its ``flagship sedan,'' the... Read More
