What Is the 2019 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo?

BMW’s compact 3 Series is the luxury automaker’s bread-and-butter model. While the sedan was redesigned for 2019, the wagon and five-seat Gran Turismo hatchback will continue this year with the previous design. A 248-horsepower, turbocharged gas 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (330i) and a 320-hp, turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder (340i) are offered; both drive an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard.  Competitors include the Audi A4 Allroad.

What’s New on the 2019 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo?

Standard Active Driving Assistant includes lane departure and forward collision warnings and city collision mitigation. Parking sensors are now standard. The optional navigation system adds real-time traffic information and a one-year trial of Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity.

What Features in the 2019 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo Are Most Important?

BMW’s handling characteristics have been benchmarked by practically every automaker fielding a compact luxury car. Standout available tech features include a head-up display, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot and a 360-degree camera system. Other options include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats and a Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo.

Should I Buy the 2019 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo?

If you’re not ready to move to a small SUV, the 3 Series Gran Turismo offers car-like performance and handling with extra room inside compared with a conventional compact sedan. Our editors agree that leather upholstery and other luxury items that aren’t standard can quickly run up the tab.
