The 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 is an older-style truck, but it

The 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 is an older-style truck, but it is extremely reliable and good-looking. The purpose of this vehicle is to provide enough torque for towing while having enough horsepower to serve as a daily driver. It was designed to be a light work truck that can also be used every day. I bought this truck because I own another one that I have slowly built to look the way I want, and I am using this second truck for parts to continue building my main one. I found this truck for a very cheap price of only $300, and when I bought it, it ran and drove well. The closest competitors are Ford, Chevy, Nissan, and Toyota half-ton pickup trucks. In my opinion, Dodges look much better than their competitors and are just as reliable. I recommend this truck because the engine is very dependable, and the body is all metal, making it more durable. These trucks were designed to be workhorses, and it shows; they also have the power to keep up with highway traffic. I've never had any major issues with these trucks; I even wrecked my truck going 70 MPH, and I only had to replace the front end. These trucks are very, very durable and reliable. I rate this truck 4.5 stars out of 5.

Good on gas.

Had a V6, good on gas, reliable, starts up in -40 weather just like summer, good for towing even with V6, not the best transmission, plant of cab space, not too many amenities, just less distractions, most mirrors became loose over time, constantly needed adjusting. Not bad for rust, good bed space, not the best for blind spots.

Best truck I've ever owned

Only been used in fair weather only, it has never seen snow, salt , or rain since I've owned it....I keep it in top running condition and maintained always....No performance issues, and after purchased had three minor recalls that were handled by dealership at no cost to me. Overall is priced to sell ...just a dependable /beautiful condition truck.

not built by mechanics

original design dodge truck definately built by engineers that have never worked on a truck. tough to get to and identify the thousands of sensors that are totally overkill. bought an older truck so i could avoid the computer madness of the new trucks. snakebit

Best trucks I have ever owned. Lots of power

This truck is amazing on mpg and even power the rides are also very comfortable. I would trust my Dodge Ram 1500 going anywhere I?ve drove it from Missouri to Alabama and didn?t have any trouble at all and only had to stop and get gas 3 times. Over all amazing Truck. I highly recommend it.

1500 ram sport

Very nice good truck. Super in the snow even in just rear wheel drive even though mine is 4x4. In my opinion with the spot edition is better looking than the 4th gen. Good gas mileage especially for it's size. Mine has 240 thousand miles and runs great. Cup holders really suck though and the dash pads always crack. 4th gen interior is nicer but the 3rd gen has better visibility. But excellent truck.

96 Ram 1500 standard

I bought it for 3500, it's got 200,000 miles. It has 360 v8 4x4 still running strong on trany. Engine is going good also it has no rust but paint is peeling here and there I love the truck. I will keep it till I get done with schooling then trade up to a Cummins.

dodge ram 1500 4wd

Own a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd extended cab 8ft box. Have 248000 miles on the 5.9L and it still runs good. The only weak area is the automatic transmission, rebuilt at 90000 miles and 230,000 miles. If the body wasn't rusted, I would keep this truck for the rest of my life. Trying to find a 2002 Ram 2500 like this one but have not been able to.
