Vehicle Overview

The Ford Escape Hybrid is one of a few Ford vehicles to offer the option of a self-parking system. The vehicle comes in a base and Limited trim, which incorporates added entertainment and comfort options. Competitors include the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

New for 2012
There are no significant changes for 2012.

Exterior
The Escape Hybrid has a plunging chrome grille that would be equally at home on a Volkswagen Jetta or Passat. A raised hood and high belt line may make this SUV look tougher, but they don’t do much for visibility. Exterior features include:

  • Standard 16-inch aluminum wheels
  • Available moonroof
  • Capless refueling nozzle instead of fuel cap

Interior
The Escape Hybrid seats five people in two rows of seats. It has a swing-up hatch, and the rear seats fold in a 60/40 split to increase cargo capacity. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard. Interior features include:

  • Standard front dual-zone air conditioning
  • Standard Sync multimedia system
  • Optional leather seats
  • Optional backup camera
  • Optional navigation system with traffic information

Under the Hood
The Escape Hybrid’s 153-horsepower gasoline engine uses the Atkinson-cycle combustion process for greater fuel efficiency and is supplemented by a 94-hp electric motor.  Mechanical features include:

  • Standard 153-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 136 pounds-feet of torque
  • Standard 94-hp, 330-volt permanent magnet motor
  • Standard continuously variable automatic transmission
  • Front- or four-wheel drive
  • Capable of moving on electric power alone up to 44 mph

Safety
The Escape Hybrid incorporates Roll Stability Control. It is the only system with a sensor that detects the beginning of a rollover and can act to stop it. Other standard safety features include:

  • Side-impact airbags for the front seats
  • Side curtain airbags
  • Electronic stability system
  • Antilock brakes
  • Integrated blind spot mirrors

  • Look at a Ford Escape Hybrid

We bought the Titanium option. It is stylish and very easy to get into. Even in engine mode, the car is quiet. All the safety options are great for young and old alike. .

  • I Did Not Think I Would Ever Own A Ford!

I never thought I would own a Ford as Im usually a Chevy Girl... whilst I felt like a bit of a trader a first, I have to admit I am absolutely loving my new Ford Escape! It has all the luxuries I want in my car from spacious room to a smooth quiet ride. While I do plan to upgrade the sound system, I was surprised at how nice the stock system is! After getting this car, the first date my fiance and I went on was to the Drive-In and had such a great time! All thanks to Nate and the awesome team at St. Cloud Toyota! :))

Love the new Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid. The style is charming and friendly, great mileage, wonderful and easy to learn electronics, super quiet and very comfortable. This is an outstanding SUV for two seniors who care about the environment, love getting great mileage, enjoy road trips and need a well-designed peaceful interior.

  • 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid Initial Impressions

We just received the car the other day but so far so good. It is our first hybrid so the jury is still out. Performance is not like a sports car but we know that going in. Comfort is good and visibility is great. Gas mileage seems to be as advertised, which is the reason that we purchased it in the first place.

  • Great vehicle for the money!

Have had this vehicle for about a month now, previous Japanese model lover, now I am a Ford convert! Handles great, easy stirring, save on fuel, better or more mileage than advertised. I didn't give a full five stars for the interior because it is dated and would have been better with less buttons and more of a screen. The layout now is a bit confusing and can be distracting, I think Ford solved the interioir styling issues with the new 2013 models, the body will be redesigned, I didn't want to wait for the 2013 because I don't like the new body...looks like a jelly bean and blends in with everybody else. Other than that, great ride and great value for the money!

A great car for the following reasons: well made solid, excellent drive incredibly versatile with 4WD good hauling space Incredible mileage I'm getting 30 mpg! Incredibly reliable! This is my third one--the first one (05) never broke and is still going strong at 106,000 (sold it last month) second one never broke at 75,000 (07) Only issue is interior is a bit dated and could have higher quality plastics and padding
