Dependable ,comfortable ,reliable easy to manage , family loves it,means and the wife also love it

I had my first 2006 explorer for TEN years. I was involved in a hit and run accident and when searching for a new car I couldn't stop comparing every option to my first (and favorite car) I was lucky enough to find another 2006 explorer and jumped at the chance to purchase it. I love his car and plan on having it for another 20 years.

I HAVE A 2016 FORD EXPLORER WITH 5,500. MILES, FROM THE VERY FIRST DAY I DROVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER I GOT THIS STRONG NASTY SMELL IN THE CAB, I TAUGHT TO MY SELF THAT THE SMELL WOULD GO AWAY BUT IT NEVER DID, I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT OVER NIGHT,I WAS TOLD THAT TECH TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT ON THE ROAD THREE TIMES AND HE DID NOT SMELL NOTING, THAT IS NOT RIGHT. THERE IS DEFINITELY A NASTY SMELL WHENEVER I AM DRIVING AND I STEP DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, I CALL THE FORD DEALER AND THE AGENT TO WHOM I SPOKE TO TOLD ME THAT FORD WAS WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW BY MAIL WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THE CAB SHOULD BE A SEAL UNIT, BUT NOT THIS ONE.

Bought slightly used with 30 000 on it (Canada). Now have 330 0000 K on it. Other than a new rad and two alternators it has been all regular maintenance. Still looks great. I am purchasing a new 2016 shortly. I owe it to Ford! I guess some were made on a Friday afternoon of a long weekend judging by some reviews but my Explorer was and still is a great vehicle.

Horrible vehicle. Have had it since new. at 75K miles started having problems. At 110K and has new transmission, 4 new radiators, serpentine belt, thermostats, 3 radiater fans, radiator caps, radiator clutches, water pump, ignition coil and much more! Ford said the radiators are made of plastic and alluminum and can't take heat. They crack and one thing leads to another!!! Redesign this vehicle Ford!!! Nice looking piece of junk!!!! Too pricey for the hunk of junk it is. Will never buy another Ford!

I just purchased my 06 XLT 3 months ago with 86k on it. The vehicle is in great shape, super clean inside and out, quiet, comfortable, stylish for the year. Overall I enjoy everything about my explorer. It is the XLT but it does have some extras that most did not come with standard on the XLT. I have the back up sensors, 17 inch rims, 3Rd row seating and the grill is the same as the limited edition. It's a random package but maybe someone ordered it this way when they purchased it new.

I bought this car in 2006 brand new I have not had any problems at all I have driven over 300,000 Km's. I live in the UAE. I have the same exhaust and have only changed tyres and breaks. The weather here can vary from 20c to 53c and still I have had not one problem. Thanks you FORD

I purchases a used 2006 XLT with 40+ thousand miles owned the car for 4 years never had any major repairs it drove very nice and it handled the rain and the snow and then some lots of road trips... Love it so much just trade it for a 2012 XLT

I only had a radiater issue which seems to be a common problem, other than that I have not even replaced the brake pads yet, I have 76K on this. I was lucky with the radiater issue also since the dealer was very nice and gave me good ammount of credit which I believe he said he got from Ford and acknowledged the issue with the Radiator.

Nice SUV minor details that were quickly corrected by the sales manager. Like the mileage with the 2wd. Will look for this sales manager when buying our next car.
