Love my new Explorer - far eclipses my Honda Pilot

After 8 years with my 2005 Honda pilot, and a sudden ramping up of repair costs at only 75,000 miles, I shopped for new wheels. Test drove the 2013 Ford Explorer and the 2013 Honda Pilot. No contest. Very happy to have switched to Ford. Beefier doors, nicer and much quieter interior. Much better handling - the variable rate power steering is the 'the bomb!' I do miss the automatic climate control, as I bought the Explorer in the base configuration, but it's not a deal breaker. I am so happy with it over all, I can't recall being more elated with a new car purchase (of Ford, GM, Chrysler or Honda).

My 2013 Explorer

Great SUV except for My Ford Sync and Voice Nav. One of the main reasons I bought this vehicle was the the awesome technology and all I have had problems with is the My Ford Sync and voice command capability. Had to bring it in soon after I bought it to have it fixed and was told there won't be a fix ready for the "crazy" clock until August. Also, the gas mileage on my 6 cyl. is nowhere near the 20 mile per gallon average that is advertised. Should have bought the 4 Cyl. I guess. I'm getting an average of 17.6 right now. Otherwise I've had no problems. I love the way it drives, handles and most of all how it looks. Ford has some work to do to get me happy again.

Very happy with this explorer!

I've had my 2013 explorer for almost a year and I have been very happy with it! The mpg's are better than advertised and the ride is as smooth as any car I've owned. The interior is very well designed and makes traveling with kids easy! The only change I would make would have been to get the tow package. By far the best and most favorite vehicle I've ever owned.

Shocked at this American Made SUV

This is our fitst American made car and couldnt be happier compared to our Toyota, Acura, and Lexus. This truck looks nice, rides great, has all the bells and whistles, and is super quiet on the road. I am so glad we made the decision to get this vs the Acura MDX and new Nissan 4 Runner. The Honda Pilot does not even come close to the Explorer.

3rd Explorer

This 2013 Explorer is amazing in many aspects. The versatiity and fleibility of the dash and system screen interface takes some getting used to but after a few days it becomes intuitive. The finish in and out is good, The front row seating is comfortable. The rearview/sideview visibility could be improved or the BLIS (Ford's blind side detection package) should be made a standard feature. My Explorer came with this option and now I do not know what I would do without it. One complaint is I have no need for third row seating and would rather have some extra storage and a full sized spare tire. In fact, not having a full sized spare on a vehicle equiped to tow makes no sense.

My first SUV and I am in love

This is my first SUV and I love it. We are dedicated to Ford products so I did not look at any other vehicle. I love the room and the gas mileage ain't so bad either!

Handles nicely. Confortable.

Purchased with the factory tow package with the intention of needing to occasionally rent a trailer. Was disappointed to discover that U-Haul will not rent their trailers for towing behing Ford Explorers of any year model.

First new car I have purchased.

I purchased this vehicle mainly for my wife. It is the style she, and I, wanted in a vehicle. As opposed to the Escape, size and ride wise. I will use it when I require 4 wheel drive for my work, as needed. The mileage is what was expected but will fullfill our needs. Average 19.5 mpg. We drove it on three trips immediately, within 6 days. 400, 600, and 1500 miles. No problems. The Myfordtouch is NOT complicated as to what some reviews say and I am not technical savy. Just get familar with it like anything else. She & I are very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it. I have a Lincoln T. C. with 315000 miles and had another with 185000.
