Best SUV I've ever owned
I fell in love with this SUV when I received it as a free rental upgrade and swore I would own one, one day. I have owned an expedition, navigator, aviator, and Volvo XC90 and this Ford Explorer takes the cake. Gas is so inexpensive ($32 fill up from E), I have all the bells and whistles that I needed and wanted, and the ride is so smooth I forget I'm driving an SUV sometimes!! Not to mention the kids love the dual sunroofs! The only thing I do not have I 4x4, but we don't anticipate that being a major issue. Overall, this is definitely the definition of getting the most bang for your buck.

Great SUV
This car had everything I needed with having two little girls. Very spacious and plenty of leg room. There was still room in the back even with the third row up. We looked at other SUVs and they didn't compare to the space the explorer had.

Best car I've owned so far!
It's very roomy. My husband is a big tall guy and we have three children so this vehicle is perfect for accommodating all of us even on road trips.

The 2016 Explorer seems to be good so far.
The 2016 Explorer with only 8000 miles seems to be a good vehicle so far. There are blind spots, and the review is poor for backing or parallel parking. However, the rear camera and the park assist (if you can trust park assist) makes up for the poor backing visibility. The factory paint job is not good. There is a lot of dust and dirt particles under the paint and the clear coat.

Great family SUV
My wife and I had been shopping for any SUV across all dealers. For the money we kept coming back to the Ford Explorer. Great features, amazing feel, and a fantastic ride. We will soon add a second baby to our family and car seats fit extremely well inside. Trunk space is amazing and I love the folding seat options!

Explorer
Overall the 2016 Ford Explorer is a great buy, if you're looking to buy used I'd advise to move onto the 2017 for the following reasons: Revised throttle body design and programming, the 2016's have a recall for this, revised PTU (google Explorer PTU issues), and Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. I have a fully loaded XLT model, with the exception of the tow package. This allows near-Limited like features without the price tag. The car has minor fit and finish issues that you'd expect when you're getting an American car with such a heavily discounted price tag over comparable foreign models. Most of it can be solved by some "tough love" to make panels and seats stop rattling. Drivetrain wise, the car is fantastic. Once the throttle body recall was performed, it was like driving a different vehicle. The AWD is fantastic in the snow, the power from the 3.5L engine is adequate (go with the EcoBoost if you want some oomph), the styling of the vehicle is eye catching, the standard LED headlights are incredible and aimed in such a way that you're not blinding everyone. From what I've seen every issue I've had with this vehicle is solved by the 2017 Model Year, typical first model year growing pains.
