GET THE CAR!

I've had my 97' G for 2 years now. No one ever thought this car would last but i know Taurus's. I got it at 89k miles and its currently at 109655k and running amazing! The car sat for 7 years before I bought it off someone. Only needed to do minor maintenance and now she runs like brand new. I have a feeling i'm going to have this car for a long time. I would take it over any new car any day! Plus she looks beautiful inside and out. I love how it doesn't look like every car on the road. Plus the almost 360 view around the car makes for good driving experience. I would highly recommend getting a ford taurus if your thinking about one. Also, working on the car is very easy if you ever needed too.

Get one if you can. Get one if you can.

Of course you can't buy them new, but a well-maintained one is worth over $5,000. Give it $2000 per year for maint. Tran is the weak link.

Very reliable and comfortable automobile

This car went many miles before it needed any mechanical repairs, and then the repairs were minor It is a mechanically sound automobile. It is very reliable Quite roomy and spacious for five to six people to ride in

I trust this car!

It was the middle of winter in Montana. My sister and I were driving home late after a basketball game . We hit a patch of ice going uphill, which turned the car sideways just enough. We slid on the ice for two seconds. Then hit the dry road again sending our car end over end three times! We rolled into the ditch and came sliding to a stop. My sister and I both took our seat belts off and got out of the car. Shaken up and in shock but alive and walking! So I would like to thank God, thank luck and the people who designed this car!! Thank you

Better than Honda or Volvo

Hi Have owned a number of Honda and volvo , a Chevy, and 3 Ford Taurus's. And while I would not have expected it, the Ford's are holding up better than any of the Hondas or Volvos. I bought my 97 used in 2004 with 36k miles on it. Since then I have driven it 210,000 miles. It has proven to be a solid, comfortable, and reliable car. The one exception to that is the transmission...works great, very reliable except...does not like towing a heavy trailer. When I broke down on my way moving a son to Texas, the tow truck driver's response to my question, "Do you tow many of these?" was "only when someone tries to tow it". Commuting an ave of 80 miles per day in Washington DC traffic.

A great car, lot of power

This is a black Taurus SHO with a Yamaha V-8 engine. It is great on gas mileage 28 miles per gallon although you have to use high test gas. It has 110K in terms of mileage but has always been kept up and serviced. My wife has been the primary driver. It has a lot of get up and go and great handling automobile. The paint and body is in great shape.

Transmission issues.

I have owned one for four years now and currently have 198000 miles on it. Biggest problem I've had with it is the transmission went out at 177000 miles and cost $2300 to rebuild. Engine is solid and doesn't burn a drop of oil. Second biggest problem can be finding the right part when they do break down. Easy to maintain and repair for any shadetree mechanic if you can find the right part first. Except for transmission, repairs were surprisingly affordable. Check engine light was an initial problem but a $50 code reader telling me that the gas cap was on loose fixed that. Overall a good value car for a young driver but, a thorough test drive by a qualified independent mechanic is a must.
