It’s a Honda

What can I say, it’s a Honda. It’s great! While I’m not crazy about the rear passenger door handle location, that is my only complaint. Which is only an issue because my two year loves to do, or at least try so do, everything on her own.

Is Honda still reliable like in the old days?

Ask yourself: Is Honda still reliable like in the old days? Honda HR-V 2017 (I own it for 2.5 years now) is my third NEW car I purchased from dealership for past 10 years. Two previous ones Chrysler's. So, I decided to go for HR-V primary: RELIABILITY and design. My disappointment started after I had it for about a month, with both of rear shocks was defective from manufacturer and needed to be replaced, it took 2 weeks to order, deliver and replace them. But I said "Hey, no biggie, happens to everybody" (factory warranty covered parts and labor). It's a "work-home" highway drive car, barely ever stuck in traffic or driven through big cities. All oil changes, and services were done ONLY at Honda dealership. Currently 62,000 miles on it and guess what happened last Friday! Bunch of lights come on all over dashboard and it quit driving. I called Lumberton Honda dealership (what's the place I purchase HRV) and tow it over there to be checked on. Long story short, they said I need NEW transmission (NEW TRANSMISSION Carl!) to be replaced. But, Honda Powertrain Limited Warranty 5-Year/60,000-Mile, I'm at 62,000 unfortunately. I also purchased a full extended warranty up to 100,000 at same dealership when I bought car. I was told, that claim has been made and underwriter going to check on it today(5/22/19). At dealership they ask me if I had anything done to a transmission. Lady mentioned that transmission suggested to be serviced around 30,000. Nobody said anything about it to me during multiple oil & filter changes I've done at dealership. I want to believe, it's a general inquiry and they not working together (car dealer and warranty company) to "play me". Worst car experience I had so far. Ask yourself: Is Honda still reliable like in the old days?

My second one.

I leased my 2016 HR-V when it first came out. We didn't want a large SUV and this fit the bill. After over 40,000 miles I leased another. I have the EX AWD model. The quality of this car at this price point is extremely good and fit and finish is, as you would expect from Honda, exceptional. I had zero problems with the 2016. It's a small car so you do feel some bumps and rough pavement but it's not annoying. It is a bit noisier than my Accord used to be but again, not bad at all. The 2019 has quite a few upgrades over the 2016 and Honda seemed to do quite a bit of fine tuning on the CVT. It finds it's comfort spot much better than the 2016 did and is quieter. Not a powerhouse, but I don't have problems merging into traffic. I have taken a couple of 2 1/2 - 3 hour trips in the 2016 and was not uncomfortable. The 2019 is exactly the same as far as ride quality and road noise, which isn't bad. My only hope is that Honda will make an electric version down the road. If not, I'll probably get another.

Perfect small SUV

This car is wonderful for a senior It is not too high, seats are very comfortable, and air conditioning and heating are simple to find and adjust. My only complaint so far is the location of the release for the gas cap and hood. They are down too low and difficult to reach. Also I cannot reach the rear door when opened to store shopping. It needs a pull down strap or adjustment to hinges..

Handles amazingly well with lots of tech features.

The HRV is roomy and comfortable. The ride is very controlled and feels secure. The seats are firm but comfortable. The climate control is easy and to use.

Driver friendly.

This is a great SUV. I didn't have a lot of money to spend. I think that I got a lot for my money. It is inavative, yet really simple. I really really enjoy driving it. And it looks sharp. The door lines are amazing.

My 14th new Honda over the years.

For all the research I did prior to my purchase: Not as slow as in road test reviews I read, it's comfortable with little road noise. At top of line (Touring) could have included splash guards and possible a few other token items for the almost 30k sticker price. At 11" shorter than the CRV it's perfect for my needs, and a bargain by comparison with the CRV. Fit,finish, and overall quality is typical Honda-Good! Personally wish it had additional interior color/exterior color variation. The black interior does not work for me leaving gray the only other choice-this was almost a deal breaker for me. Glad the gray is fairly non-specific and it does lighten up the interior some what. Very pleased with this purchase. I'm sure next year will be new with the turbo engine, but after tweaking this model for 4 years I felt it would be pretty fine tuned in quality.
