I have owned four BMW's in the last 12 years. One 7 series and 3 five's. The last one I had was a 2008 535I with the first twin turbo 300HP engine. I had nothing but trouble with that car and decided it was time for a change. I liked the look of the Genesis and decided to test drive one. Although not quite as fast to 60 and a little less low end torque it drives great, has more room especially in the rear is loaded with every posible option and the quality is on par with the BMW. All of this for just over half the price of the new 535I. I am amazed with the quality of this car and dare I say I prefer it to any of the BMW's I've owned. I have put 2,000 miles on the Genesis and with every mile I like the car more. The only thing I would change if I could would be the a/c and temp read out on the nav screen. It goes into hiding until you press one of the controls for the temp or fan. A small gripe to an otherwise remarkable vehicle especially for the money. Its no wonder the BMW 5 series sales in the US have dropped over 5% this year and the Genesis has increased by almost 40%. If you are looking for real luxury at an affordable price then look no further. If you are more interested in a luxury badge to boost your image go ahead and spend thousands more and buy the BMW or Mercedes while I will be laughing at you all the way to the bank!!

A Very Good Decision

Characterize me as a value driven buyer. Prestige badges hold little sway for me if price and performance is not a hallmark of the brand. That's why a WSJ article, dated AUGUST 8, 2008, entitled "Hyundai's Luxury Gambit" by By JEFF SABATINI caught my eye. Quoting: "This new luxury sedan is so good at emulating its competition that if the badges were removed it could be mistaken for a Lexus GS460. I'm not saying this just because Hyundai has taken Lexus's generic and inoffensive styling to a new level. This car has every $50,000 luxury car meme, from a V8 engine that powers the rear wheels, to soft leather on the dashboard and door panels, to an excellent navigation and multimedia system. Throw in a push button starter and the package is complete." Add to that the fact that the newly designed Tau 4.6L DOHC V-8 scores a first-time Ward's 10 Best Engines appearance for the South Korean auto maker with an impressive mix of power, efficiency and affordability and you have a car worth really considering. I traded a Mercedes ML-430 for the V-8 Genesis and have been very pleased over the last 7 months. Fit, finish, design, material and component quality are on par with both German and Japanese products. What's happening here is the 4th largest automaker in the world is buying market share. Pricing is a bargain. And with the best warranty in the industry, I feel confidence in the brand. What I sacrifice is demonstrating to others that I don't care about value and am willing to overpay for a product that sports a well known, premium badge. That's just not me. Try driving one. You might change your perspective. Especially in this recent changed economic environment.

I've owned this car now for over a week, and I am loving it. The 2011 took care of a lot of issues that I read about in the forums prior to buying it, regarding the suspension, and a few other things. The car drives really well, it is very smooth, responsive, and the cabin space is amazing. I have two teenagers who sat on the backseat and were in total awe. Still getting use to the bells and whistles...there is so much included automatically in the 4.6, the integration of all the components is outstanding. The sound is beautiful, without being overpowering. The telephone integration is fantastic...my wife cannot tell whem I'm calling from the car or the phone. The quality of the interior is akin to the companies it is set to compete against...very nice job by Hyundai. The soft leather makes the ride super comfortable, and I drive in DC traffic, so I get to sit in my car for long periods of time! Gets a lot of attention on the road and is the perfect size. Hyundai is using the same drivetrain, engine, and transmission on the Equus as in the Genesis. This car is Hyundai's way to tap into the luxury market, prior to introducing the Equus, which lets us (as consumers) benefit from this vehicle being offered at such an amazing price.

Love this car. The outside is very good looking. The paint is great, better than many other cars out there, even cars at a higher price. The interior is great with high quality materials and thought full touches. The only negative I have is the bluetooth. It is not very good. I have an iphone and when it synchs it does not go back to my radio it simply stays in the Bluetooth mode and i have to hit the mode button to get back to the original setting.

Best Car for the price

I'm 57 and have owned many new cars in the past 20 years. I've had Acuras, Hondas, Chevys and VWs to name a few. This Genesis 4.6 V8 is by far the best car I've owned. The performance is great! The ESC (electronic stability control) prevents you from burning the tires off, even when you turn it off it still has an effect. With that said, when you mash the gas it goes! The power at cruising speed when you pass a car is amazing. It handles very good. Has good feel of the road yet very comfy. The bells and whistles are really convenient. I'm not going to name them all but with the V8 the car comes loaded with all the extras. The 17 speaker Lexicon stereo is amazing. You will find yourself buying DVD audio and DTS CDs because when you play one in this system it truly blows you away how good it sounds!! This is better than anything I've ever heard in a car, aftermarket included. The joystick is located in a good spot and is easy to use. The navigation is spot on and is better than most to input locations. The controls are user friendly and the voice command are the best I've used. It usually recognizes the correct commands although it has made the wrong interpretations a few times. This is a great car and the best value out there. It compares to the Beemers and Lexus and M.B.s but are 15-35k less. Add to that a 10 year 100k mile warranty and you have a real winner. People have their own ideas of what car "looks" good but I really love the way it looks. If you're looking for a luxury sedan do yourself a favor and drive one of these before you buy...You will be pleasantly surprised. My only regret is it's not made in Detroit.

Never in a million years didmi think I was going tom trade in my Lexus for a Hyundai. But after extensive research and test drives it was really no contest. Here is the upshot: you get everything bells and whistles wise you would get on a 70k Lexus, BMW, Mercedes etc for about 40k. The biggest difference is that when the road ain't smooth the ride is bumpy. But the v8 is a beast and the appointments are simply A1. The roam is incredible and I just can't say enough. And when people are like "you bight a Hyundai?" they will look at you one way. But when they get in the car and drive with you in it they willmlookmat you another way. I have no doubt this car maker is going to be recognized as a status symbol like Lexus in the next few years. Buy now so you can say you saw the future and bought one for 40k back in 2011. Great car!

Test drove BMW 3/5 series, Audi A4/6, Mercedes C/E, Infiniti G/M, Lexus IS/E/G, and bought the Genesis. If dollars were equal, I would now own a loaded BMW 535, A6, Infiniti M37, or MB E350. The challenge became the incredible value of the not-so-prestigious Hyundai! Heated and Cooled seats (not ventilated... COOLED!), back-up camera, Lexicon sound system (AMAZING!!!), HID directional lights, auto-hold brakes, adaptive cruise control... if you can live without brand prestige, the value of this car is off the charts! 20,000 miles, zero problems, accelerates very strong, drives great, and I love it. No regrets at all. Would absolutely buy it again

This car was purchased new by us about 11 months ago. I must say that it is one of the best vehicles we have owned. (we have owned BMW and Acura brands)The smart cruise control is very useful in freeway traffic. The sound system is the best we have heard in any car. The power and performance is on par with the best from Germany. Very quiet car with room for 5 large adults. In short its a wonderful car. I recommend the V8 with tech package.

The Genesis 4.6 V8 is smooth and powerful ( 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, now thats fast) yet we get 24 mpg average. Very quiet ride and wonderful sound system. Voice command system works great. The adaptive cruise control has spoiled us and I can't do without it now. Handling is very good and the car is one that does not tire you out after driving for five or six hours. Excellent seats. The fit and finish is on par with the very best cars in the world. Its a solid well built reliable car that we plan on keeping for many years.
