Awesome Vehicle
I bought my Jeep Commnader a month ago. It is my second Jeep -- it replaced my Jeep Cherokee with almost 200,000 mile on it. I hear complaints -- but I DO NOT understand them. My vehicle only has the V6, but it has pletty of power. Other reviews have complained about front facing car seats in the second row. News flash -- the second row seats recline slightly which allows the baby seats to nest just below the head rest-- no problems here! I am very tall. This is one of the few vehicles where I've had too much leg room, in the front, when driving. It is extrememly comfortable and it handles like a dream. I absolutely love it. Yes, mpg aren't the greatest, but what do you expect from a vehicle this size? All in all -- this is an extremely functional vehicle that is roomy and performs beautifully on the road. FYI--The vehicle I purchased was a 1 yr rental return with only 8,800 miles on it -- basically brand new. So if you can't afford the Limited or Overland, look into a Sport that is only a year old or so. With my trade in, I paid less than 15,000 dollars --- you can't beat that anywhere. It is AWESOME!

worst car to buy least reliable
I bought this car in September... it is now May. With in the first week the AC went out and was blowing nothing but hot Texas air. This is Texas, the AC is very important! I took it to the dealership and they claimed to have solved and fixed the problem; but a week later the same thing happened. Now months later and its almost summer again, the AC blows luke warm air unless on full blast. The dealership also neglected to give me a spare key even after I asked a couple times. Eventually I needed that key and when I called to get one it was a huge hassle; I was even accused of possibly steeling the car which I had only recently bought! At first this car seemed wonderful! It looked nice, was roomy and comfortable, had three skylights, stadium seating and a great stereo! But over a couple months after I bought it I realized the cup holder is actually more like a disaster in that every drink placed in it doesn't fit, or the cup breaks/spills when forced in. The back skylights don't open and are more so pointless. And as for the stadium seating, made it impossible to see out the back. There are already many large blind spots in this vehicle; and with the stadium seating its worse, especially if you have the third row up it means there is no view at all out the back! Not a safe car! Now in May, my breaks are already squeaking! Their is feature that is suppose to be helpful in warning you about low tire pressure... however the temperature here is the only thing that can turn it off if the air expands... in other words unless its 100 degress out this warning is ALWAYS on! the lights also stay on WAY to long, and I haven't be able to correctly get them to go off after I lock the car. It is also a target for hit and runs, as well as break ins. So far across three different cities it has been broken into twice and involved in three hit and runs! if you decide to go against my advice and by this car, good luck to you! this car seems out to make my life miserable, if it doesnt kill me first.

I love this thing!
I have owned a host of vehicles - Mercedes, BMW, Jeep, Toyota - and my family is big into cars. This, this Jeep is the most comfortable vehicle to drive. Hands down. I would take this over my parents Chayenne S. My brothers Range Rover, my German sedans. I feel safe in this car. I feel comfortable. And talk about quiet! I can drive down the interstate at 90 mph and still hear a whisper. Loads of room, lifetime powertrain warranty, etc. And a note on gas, when I drive calmly (not slow, still 90mph at cruising) I get 20 mpg. For a 7,000lb v8, that is good. Oh and I can use E85 if I care about hugging a tree :)

Best Jeep ever!!
My second Jeep first was a liberty. Now the commander, more room power, and style. Bought the Overland package and couldn't be happier! Had a couple of things wrong, but have owned several new cars and they all have little things to work out.

Forward facing car seats DO NOT FIT
Do not even consider this vehicle if you have more than one forward facing car seat you need installed. Due to the design of the NON-removable head rests, the *only* position that a forward facing car seat OF ANY KIND can be correctly installed is in the center of the 2nd row. Someone seriously messed up on this vehicle's head rest design.

Safest, Most Comfortable Car I've Owned!
I purchased my Commander a month ago and I absolutely love it. I considered a smaller SUV, but am glad I chose this Jeep because of its reliability, comfort, handling and cargo room. I live in the midwest where snow is nothing new, and my Jeep gets through the weather like there isn't even anything on the ground! The gas mileage is decent considering how big this vechile actually is. I'm averaging 16-18 city and 19-21 highway. The only problems I am having is a broken CD player, and when the 3rd row seat is up you cannot see out of the back window.

Best yet
1st car I ever owned was a 1942 Chevy coupe. I have owned 5 Dodge trucks, 2 Grand Jeep Cherokee's, and this Commander is the best yet. I like the looks best of all. I have always liked the box look of a car and this one has style in a box. I haven't used the 4X4 yet but Dodge made a Power Wagon many years ago that a goat couldn't keep up with and I think when I need it this car will do the job. Long driving situations I find myself so comfortable I want to sleep, but don't, the seats are good. I have had back problems ever seince I was hurt in Viet Nam in 1967 so if the seats in a car arn't good I can feel it right off. I like the way this car feels on the road, it apperars to be glued to the surface and won't let go even though I know ever car has it's limits. I must asdmit I bought this car used! It belonged to the owner of the dealership where I bought it and there was only 17000 miles on the odometer. I like to buy used because the depreciation was taken by smeone else all I have to do is retrain the car to my style of driving and this car is easy to do that in.

Headroom for a man.
At 6-4 few vehicles yield adequate headroom, my Jeep Commander has ample room for a comfortable posture (not reclined to the backseat) while wearing a ballcap; more headroom than my Chevrolet Suburban. The V6 has adequate power and is yielding over 17 mpg in city driving. The seats are comfortable, visiblity is excellent, as is the ride. The Commander ride quality, fit and finish rivals that of my work car, an Acura MDX, which has limited headroom, and the Commander stomps the MDX in offroad capability. The Commander's stadium seating works well, the little girls in the two back seats can actually see out the front windshield, have their own heating/cooling controls, and a great view from the large side windows. The three middle seats are comfortable and also offer a good view of the road ahead. The Commander is a great vehicle!
