Expert 2019 Lincoln MKZ review

our expert's take

By Cars.com Editors

our expert's take

What Is the 2019 Lincoln MKZ?

The Lincoln MKZ is a mid-size entry-luxury sedan that seats five. Power comes from a 245-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 350 or 400 hp. Both engines team with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the MKZ offers front- or all-wheel drive. A front-wheel-drive gas-electric MKZ Hybrid is also offered. Competitors include the Acura TLX, Lexus ES and Volvo S60.

What’s New on the 2019 Lincoln MKZ?

New standard active safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Rain-sensing windshield wipers are also now standard, and the MKZ Hybrid gets standard adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability.

What Features in the 2019 Lincoln MKZ Are Most Important?

Standard features include an adaptive suspension, 18-inch aluminum wheels, rear parking sensors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, remote start, a push-button gear selector, a touchscreen multimedia system, heated front seats and a split-folding backseat. Available features include a power-adjustable steering column, a power trunk lid, a heated steering wheel, navigation, a choice of two Revel premium stereos, leather-trimmed seats, heated rear seats and inflatable rear seat belts.

Should I Buy the 2019 Lincoln MKZ?

The extra standard safety features are a welcome addition, and the MKZ has easy-to-use tech features, too. We like how the fuel-efficient MKZ Hybrid has the same starting price as the regular MKZ. There are some questionable design choices, however, like the car’s push-button gear selector.

  • Lincoln lowest quality of car

My vehicle was a certified pre owned. A dealershop called Orisman Ford and Lincoln of alexandria sold me this bad car with a broken rooftop as a teqard for being a loyal customer after paying of my first car within less than 2 years and biying the next car at their dealership. Ever since i only have problems that can not be tesopbed by dealership that sold it to me no by manufactirer tjat certifies a broken var with broken rooftop in the first place.what they did to me both was to expect from street level rootless gangsters that dont have good sense of how far they could go due to brain limitations. They sold me the worst car for the highest lrice! I have at least 30 unsolved issues be it mechanical, transmission, cosmetically the car is a mess. The paint is falling off the buttons that i used. I had a honda accord more than 20 years old. The paint was like new. Who has ever seen paintfalling off???, electrical etc etc. i wish there was a way to upload at least pics of paint falling off!!!

  • A+ Rating

just purchase an extremely low miles off lease 2019 MKZ from a local dealer. This car is extremly comfortable and has excellent handling and comfortable ride. Sound system is one of the best i have heard. The 2.0 turbo is powerful and quite. I am normally partial to GM, but this Ford product tops the list. Very satisisfied with this vehicle.

  • Dream car to drive

This car drives smooth and is so quiet. All I have to do now is learn how everything in the car works. The manual is almost 600 pages. Everything would have been excellent if it were not for the dealership CarMax in Ocala Florida.

  • Elegant exterior and driver-friendly interior

I have owned five Lincoln MKZs and currently drive a 2019 model with the 2.0 turbo engine. It's very comfortable and quiet. I love the easy-exit driver's seat and my huge panoramic moonroof. For the most part, I think the exterior styling is rather elegant, although, let's face it, the grille looks like a pickup truck and is not as pleasing as the 2013 to 2015 models. The car has good acceleration and rides very smoothly and quietly. Overall the build and interior quality are excellent. My vehicle is a Reserve II and has heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and a Revel audio system with 19 speakers. It is awesome! Overall, the car is very good to excellent.

  • Luxury and Style

I traded a vehicle in that had a 2.0 L engine with a turbo and I wanted to purchase one with the same engine set up. The Lincoln MKZ I purchased at Bedford Ford/Lincoln provided that plus luxury features that I have never had in a car. I am confident that it will be a great car.

  • Pocket Rocket MKZ!

I own the Reserve II MKZ. 3.0 V6 Twin Turbo AWD. More horsepower than my previous car (2015 Taurus SHO). Adjustable ride and performance. The security lighting is cool too. Even though it is smaller than the SHO, it is far more comfortable and very sporty. I'm not a fan of the button shifter console (I would rather have a console shifter).

  • Second Lincoln MKZ I’ve owned. . .

This 2019 Lincoln MXZ Zephyr Reserve II (they’ve resurrected the Zephyr badge), with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, FWD, is absolutely beautiful in a pearlescent white. Leather seating with both front seats w/10way power, including both heat/cool features. This particular version lacks only the Panasonic moon roof to have every beep and whistle a marching band could want. Sound control for road and engine is superb, with the vehicle being much quieter than the 2014 Lincoln MKZ we traded in to acquire this vehicle. The top of the line Revel™ sound system’s eleven speakers delivers superb base and great crisp highs. The lane keeping and automated parking system is wonderful. . . But it is still a skill to be learned as the drive still has to shift and accelerate and brake as directed while the car’s steering system does the necessary turns. The enhanced speed control is also great. Overall, we are really enjoying this vehicle.
