Expert 2026 Maserati Grecale review

Key Points

  • Detuned Nettuno V-6 replaces turbo four-cylinder as base engine
  • Output betters 2025 four-cylinder by 60 horsepower and 36 pounds-feet of torque
  • Pricing starts at $86,495 (all prices include $1,995 destination charge).

The Grecale compact SUV might be Maserati’s most affordable offering, but even in today’s world of high-output turbocharged engines, a four-cylinder stretches for the necessary cachet — even one with 325 horsepower that can accelerate the compact SUV from 0-60 mph in a claimed five seconds flat.

So, Maserati is bidding arrivederci to the Grecale’s four-pot for the 2026 model year. Under the hood of the now entry-level Grecale Modena, you’ll find a detuned version of the so-called Nettuno twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that powers the flagship Grecale Trofeo.

Maintaining the Pecking Order

Generating 385 horsepower and 368 pounds-feet of torque, the Grecale Modena V-6’s engine is up 60 hp and 36 pounds-feet from the four-cylinder in the 2025 model’s base trim. The 138-hp and 89-pounds-feet gap between this V-6 and the version in the Trofeo should be enough to justify the latter’s $33,000 premium.

Aft of the engine, the Grecale’s drivetrain carries over. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to a standard all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip rear differential. And though the 2025 model’s base trim is now gone, the rest of the Grecale lineup remains: The Grecale Modena V6 is priced from $86,495; the Trofeo starts at $119,495; and while 2026 pricing for the all-electric Grecale Folgore hasn’t been announced yet, expect it to open north of $120,000.
