They never should these cars

Within 9 months I've lost power steering and transmission. Rotors and stabilizer bars replaced. Do not buy without researching problems. Is this car worth spending $3400 to fix?

IT'S GOT LEGS!

Due to a catastrophic engine failure on the mid-sized 4DR Sedan/hatchback I was driving, I made a crisi$ purchase of a 2008 Mariner in Jan 2019. The price was low, as it would soon need all new tires, new front brake pads & rotors, as well as both front steering control arms w/ball joints replaced, and, an alignment, of course, AND it had 239,ooo miles on that CD4E transmission. But inside was clean, and I was on a limited budget, and this car left me with some cash in hand for parts, and it would carry the stuff I need for work. So, I spent a weekend rolling around on the garage floor, replacing all the hard parts, got some good rubber on it, and paid for an alignment to get it driving straight: 25 months/25,ooo miles later, that V-6 is still going pretty strong, starts well in subzero (F) cold, and the transmission is still hanging in there, too! Runs pretty quiet: have to watch my speed! Just wish the upper display worked: if I bump the radio channel button, it takes a while to get back to my station!

Best car I’ve ever owned!

I’ve had my 2008 Mercury Mariner VOGA Edition for 5 years and it still runs fantastic! It has 167,000 miles on it and is the best-looking vehicle I’ve ever owned. I love it so much that I had the opportunity to trade it in for something newer but I just can’t part with it. Great small SUV and great gas mileage.

I was notified that they were for recalls on my 2008 Mercury mariner V6 and I noticed that one of them is the front bearing of the wheel and I know that because there is a noise coming from it and wearing out my front tires but when I contacted a dealership they said there is no recalls on that certain items even though I received a message from cars.com saying that there is that is why I gave you a bad review because I’m sure you just don’t want to pay for it and it’s dangerous for me to transport my grandchildren I looked it up and it says it is dangerous to do that could cause a severe accident and right now the wait times are businesses have been closed people are trying to figure out how to pay their rent and put food on the table it’s unacceptable that you don’t update and that there is a problem with this car it’s an American made car And now I know why people buy cars like Toyotas Hondas Nissans for us from another country where the workmanship better sorry don’t get me wrong I love the United States but a lot of cars from the United States have a lot of recalls and it’s disappointing.

Most reliable car I have ever owned

Smooth ride and comfortable interior with plenty of head room. Not bad performance for a four cylinder and I am getting close to 30 mpg on the highway.

Great car overall

Me and my girl bought a 2008 Mercury Mariner in March 2019, so it already was 11 years old. However we bought the car with 54k miles on it, it is the base model, so it does have a cloth interior and unfortunately lacks the automatic headlights, leather seats, and steering wheel mounted stereo controller, however it is a 4WD with the 3.0 V6 it has power, it has the get up, however living in Pittsburgh she feels the gas milage of a v8 most of the time, the car has needed a ball joint, and a lower control arm, but for 11 years old she rides great, she runs good, and I wish Ford would make a new one, next one will likely be an Escape hopefully without a turbocharger, love the way these cars look and perform though

Great little SUV

Nicely appointed small SUV. Reliable. Not a super powerful vehicle, but zippy and nice to drive. Reliable and good on gas. Low maintenance. This car is the equivalent to a Ford Escape.

Comfortable, well designed, Excellent SUV

I purchased a used 2015 Mercury Mariner Premier, with 83,333 Mileages, it was the main car for all season, better under inclement weather in Minnesota, this car was perfect. The features and smart key are a nice touch. The acceleration is good. I really like the looks of this car, the Sport and elegant fix very well with it.

Most Reliable Car I've Owned

This car met all of my needs. It has plenty of legroom and comfortable to drive. I like that you can hide what is in the hatchback with the cover. Nice surprise that this SUV has tire pressure monitor. For a SUV, it makes a surprising 26 miles per gallon on the highway.
