Vehicle Overview

One of the most affordable cars on sale today gets an extensive update for the 2017 model year. The update adds new styling inside and out, powertrain improvements and more technology features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

ExteriorThe Mirage’s new exterior design is an overhaul, front to back, with updates to the hood, grille, front and rear bumpers, fog and headlights, rear spoiler and the wheels. Replacing the old slitlike front grille is a larger opening, with available chrome accents adding some needed spice to what used to be a rather mundane front end.

Fog lights are now surrounded by black plastic, which blends into the lower air intake and gives the Mirage a wider, more stylish appearance. New LED daytime running light accents are now available as well. Mitsubishi claims that the changes also make the Mirage lighter, which should help fuel economy.

Interior
Inside, the 2017 Mirage also gets an update with new seat fabrics, a new steering wheel and a restyled instrument panel. Technology options now include a 300-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is the first time those systems will be offered by Mitsubishi in the U.S.

Under the HoodReturning is the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, but it does get mechanical upgrades (including a new camshaft) that bumps horsepower to 78, 4 more hp than last year. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. Mitsubishi says updates to the steering along with added stiffness to the front suspension should provide better handling and stability. Larger brake discs up front and larger drums in the rear should also improve the Mirage’s braking.

SafetySeven airbags are standard (including dual front, side-impact, side curtain and driver’s knee) along with the federally mandated antilock brakes and an electronic stability control system. CVT-equipped models also come with hill start assist to prevent rollback on inclines.

  • My dad has one

I seen how people had problems with theirs this not a car to run to death outta of, you run it for gas mileage only. Some People don’t know how to drive this small car that’s why you can’t find them used because they are needing so many parts because people don’t know how to drive it. But my dad drove it for gas mileage to work and back it did amazingly it has 100,000 miles on it that being a commuter no city driving back roads and highway only. No problems take care of this car. It will take car of you. I got a 2021 I love my little car!

  • Perfect Commuter

This car met all the needs I had along with all it's wonderful features for its price. Used it every day to go to and from work and have had 0 issues with it. Features that came with my trim had more than one of my friends who bought a car for 10k more. Would recommend to everyone who is looking for a car to get to work or even just to take trips with.

  • disposable car

Bought new for the gas millage and to have a basic car without many frills that I could repair myself. it lived up to its promise of good gas mileage for the first 40k miles but the cvt started to go and millage suffered. cvt is near complete failure at 45k. will be covered by warranty but I'm concerned that I will have to replace in another 40k. If you live in a cold climate, invest in a block heater so that you don't have lubrication issues which is common in these cars. Just buy a xxxx toyota if you cant find a cheap manual mirage. otherwise don't expect more than a throw away car. I really liked this car otherwise

  • Unbelievably Good

I was hesitant to buy this car after reading pro reviews, but I'm so glad I did. Mirage g4 es. This car is plain, but I'm not trying to pick up the ladies lol. Power is adaquate for what you need. I have no problem getting up to 70 off the ramp, in fact other cars slow me down if anything. I have no problems passing. This car is fun to drive, motor is louder but that adds to the fun. It's not that bad. Steering is responsive and fun. Very comfortable inside surprisingly from the exterior view. I'm 6ft and like 280lbs and fit very comfortably. I have a cvt and it's smooth and reliable. I thought this car would be bumpy and rough on the roads especially here in the northeast but it is smooth, firm, and responsive. Amazingly tight turning radius makes it so easy to park in tight spots. And finally, the mpg.... The gas mileage on this car isn't just great, it's miraculous. I average well above 40 mpg on a typical city drive and in some cases come home above 50 miles per gallon. It's sips gas like a fine wine. Obviously if you are looking for a race car or a lady magnet you may want to look elsewhere but for a new car with best warranty in the biz and far less than someone else's used problem. This car fits the bill and Its made me a believer and Mitsubishi fan....
