The SUV’s plug-in hybrid drivetrain features a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors that deliver 221 total horsepower. The Outlander PHEV can travel up to 24 miles on electric power alone, according to EPA estimates, with a total estimated range of 320 miles. Competitors include the Toyota RAV4 Prime and Ford Escape PHEV.
