2004 Nissan Pathfinder consumer reviews

I love this car so much I bought 2 (used). 4x4 SE model. My my kids outgrew the back seats of my '91 300zx, I had to have something else. And NOTHING was going to come close to driving a Z. So I went the other direction. SUV. The R50 Pathfinder was perfect. Enough room for 4 comfortably, 5 for short trips. 4x4 when weather hits. Convenient for hilly streets when it rains. Would have been stuck in NW Arkansas over Christmas one year if I didn't have a 4x4. (You know the Z wouldn't have made it out of the driveway.) Dime size snow flakes. After years of faithful service, my first 2004 got T-boned 2 blocks from the office. By then all SUVs had become mini-school buses. I tracked down my 2nd 2004 with half the miles, and kept on trucking. It now has 180,000 miles, still going strong. Only known item is it kicks out of cruise after about 3 hours of driving. I'm thinking a dirty connection in the wiring. SOLID roof rack, I can use to ferry lumber or fence pickets from Lowe's to the house. 16' 2x10s, just strap 'em down and go. Most SUVs have become SVs, forgetting the UTILITY. I don't want to strap a bicycle to my roof. I actually need a vehicle that is capable of doing work. The end of the small Pathfinder was sad. My wife likes her XTerra, but the ride is uncomfortable, and the doors dig into the outside of my thighs on trips. Don't like it as much as my Pathy.

This car has been my family's work horse for years! It has 202,000 miles and isn't showing significant signs of stopping anytime soon. I love the heated seats! Trunk space is super nice as well.

This car might be a thirsty one but it's xxxx worth the fuel it drinks It never failed me, even for a cross country trip

I have to say this is one of the best people I’ve ever driven. Other than my 1980s diesel Mercedes. Which is also extremely reliable. They simply don’t break down. Handles extremely well in all weather. With good snow tires there is zero problems in the winter even a n I have to say this is one of the best vehicles I’ve ever driven. We are pretty active, piled our surf boards , skis on the roof rack many times and never worried about getting stuck in the snow or sand. Great car, I like the older body style over the neeer boxy style but time change.

I owned this car for 10 years and appreciated that it needed very little maintenance, always ran well and consistently, and had plenty of space for gear. It had plenty of clearance for dirt roads and deep snow.

I test drove this and a 2001 model, and I love them both. The interior is comfortable and no none sense. the leather seats are adequate for a man of my stature ( 6'4") and I don't feel cramped like I would in a similar sized SUV. The V6 is top notch, with great performance and good gas mileage for a high revving engine. Both this and the 2001 model that I test drove performed without a hiccup, with both having 200,000 miles or more on the odometers. I recommend this vehicle for anyone that wants a comfortable, low maintenance, well performing used SUV. I am sure it could outrun many smaller sedans on the road and also out pack a lot of mid-sized SUV's with its interior space.
