Bought brand new with 292,000 miles and counting
Purchased 2016 Scion IA 6 speed MANual transmission brand new June 2016. As of writing this on December 10th 2023 the car has almost 293,000 miles. I've been doing my own maintenance such as fully synthetic oil changes since the beginning. I replaced both front control arms, alternator, spark plugs, one engine mount which was my fault it broke, driver's seat (because I was 335 lb max at 6 ft 2 in tall and the seat broke because I was fat), but this is just maintenance and wear and tear that is expected with such a high mileage car. The important things like the engine and transmission are still good. It burns some oil but I keep up with topping it off and this is expected at high miles using a thin 0w 20 oil. I only buy manual transmission vehicles and have been driving stick since 2005. My Scion has the original clutch which still grips like new with no slippage and the shifts are still buttery smooth. The reliability of this non-turbo low horsepower 4 cylinder engine with the 6-speed manual transmission is astonishing and maintenance and repairs are very simple because it's a 4 cylinder. This Toyota Scion IA is actually a Mazda 2!!! And this car has taken a beating because I drive it for work following people so it has a lot of idle time, a lot of highway miles and a ton of stop and go driving! I would obviously recommend. It's a shame these aren't made anymore and you can't buy the Mazda 2 itself! Purchased for a little over $15,000 brand new in 2016 with about 30 mi. Now today's market has this vehicle listed at around the same amount with a bunch of miles!

Don’t buy
Don’t buy this car the A/C works while driving but when you put it in park it gets extremely hot. It starts to make this rattling noise, then when you turn the car off the A/C fan is still on. The radio does things on its own like changes the music station, calls people from your phone, and dials 911. The tire light wouldn’t go away I put air in all my tires and the light was still on then the key fob light came on as well. But it does run good on gas.

I love this car
I love all the features it has for a less expensive vehicle. It's sporty looking and great on gas. I looked at cars for over two weeks and always came back to the Scion that had low miles and navigation and a backup camera, not normal features of a lower priced car.

best car ever
Hello this is my review of the scion IA 2016 /Yaris IA 2017-2019/ Yaris 2020 model, the version that I have is the 2016 scion IA the car performance is a really well for a lightweight vehicle fuel economy numbers for me is 37 city 35 if I’m speeding Highway Mpg when cruising is 45 to 52 doing about 65 to 70 and if you are speeding the fuel economy member is 39 to 42 MPG going speeds 75 to 85. Tech wise the vehicle is well-equipped for me having the 2016 model does not come with apple car play but the newer models does which is not a dealbreaker for me Bluetooth works well. Interior wise the vehicle does not fuel small I am 5 ‘10 and I fit just fine sitting behind my seating position and still being able to drive comfortably my nephew is 6 foot and sits perfectly in the back and in the front, the vehicle seating is respectable for a subcompact vehicle which I have no complaints about. Mechanically the car is really reliable has a 1.5 L engine which is paired to a real automatic transmission or if you opt for a manual transmission. My car is equipped with the automatic with sport mode which shifts perfectly and smoothly. The trunk space of the car is really good you could fit about two big size suitcases which is pretty good for a subcompact what has changed on the 2020 model it got a rear spoiler and fog lights also has LED headlights and dark painted rim’s. In conclusion this car reminds me of a 90s Honda Civic small and fun to drive and gets xxxx good gas mileage.

A Warm Cocoon on a Cold, Rainy Cape Cod Winter!
This car is exactly what I need to get around Cape Cod, esp. Upper Cape area. I am short and I do like the ability to move driver's seat up (by "jacking it up like a bicycle".....and also the ability to "move seat forward".....only thing: I need to "jack the driver's seat UP EVEN HIGHER....for better visibility .....perhaps a good cushion? This car has been a "god-send" in all this awfully rainy, foggy winter we're having on the Cape so far!----so warm and comfy.....like being in a warm, safe cocoon! I really don't know what all this new technology on the "dash" is about yet, but I'll figure it out in time, hopefully. I am just so happy with this car.

Piece of junk I’m
In the first 3 yrs. door locks broke. Push button start works when it wants to. Key fob batteries out in less then 1 yr. eats more gas then it claims. Tires are special order and expensive. Not standard tires. Power is weak. Back seat comfort is non existent. TPMS lite always on. Breaks squeak when it rains or is wet outside. This is a junk car and needs recalls for everything I mentioned.

93 out of 100
Love just about everything about it. Great car for gas mileage and small family with children out of baby carrier. Wish it had a CD player and arm rest. The sun hits from every angle in the car and headlights from other vehicles blind me.
