My new car

This new car is what I have been looking for. I would say do your research over what you want to buy first. I was very interested in the crosstrek buy I did my research and I bought the outback and I cannot be happier even though I wanted the other car first. Do your research.

Utility and safety without the price tag of “SUV”

We were able to find a 2013 Outback with a manual transmission. This is a great car with flawless AWD system and adequate power. The 6 spd manual makes it a fun drive. We also own a 2015 Outback Limited that we like.

Most upgrades I ever had in a vehicle.

Very nice interior. Comfortable ride. Good electronics. Runs great. Great gas mileage. Very eye appealing. Has lots of leg room with room for stuff in the back.

Great 4WD, short lived mechanicals

It was great when it was new. It wasn't the quietest thing but we could go anywhere. However at 90,000 miles mechanical problems started. This despite being well maintained and not driven hard. First, one of the head gaskets started to leak. I had to replace both since it's common on these engines, that cost me a couple thousand dollars. Then 10,000 miles later the CVT failed, didn't malfunction, it broke. I was quoted $5000 to replace it. I guess you can't just rebuild these things and they break regularly. I got the price down to $4000 and had no choice but to fix it. But buyer beware. Our previous car, a 2002 Ford Explorer is still on the road with our son at 170,000 miles, all we had to do on that was a rebuilt transmission at 110,000 miles for $2000. The old Ford looks pretty good versus the submarine...Subaru.

Most reliable car I've owned

This car met all of my needs. Plenty of cargo room. Awesome gas mileage. Amazingly reliable. Comfortable to ride in and fun to drive. One big bonus is that even though it's AWD it is low enough to the ground that my 80-year-old mother had no issues getting in and out. I've never had a car that drives better in snow. The longest I've ever kept a car and plan to keep it for my daughter to drive as her first car.

Major oil leaks..do not recommend Subaru

Ran great until 108k miles and then we had the check oil light come on. Took it in for service as we've done for every scheduled maintenance and were told that the Front Timing Cover, Valve Cover and Cam Carriers are leaking oil. $3,000 for a reseal. It was our first and absolute last Subaru. They used to make great cars, but the more I look around they are living off of their reputation from past successes.

This is the safest most reliable all rounder ever!

This car does everything you ask of it. Well thought out safety features (especially Subaru's Eyesight package); AWD go-anywhere; cavernous load space; drives like a car - accommodates like a wagon. Least depreciating car of this type available.

New Subaru Owner

So far I love it! Not the sexiest car on the road, but it has everything we could possibly need for a great price. Reliable, lots of space, and does awesome in all weather conditions.
