4Runner Outruns Them All

As one of the last hold-outs to keep the rugged body-on-frame construction, this is an SUV's SUV. Even better— the 4Runner has evolved to keep up with the latest technology and styling. After driving a Nissan Pathfinder for the last ten years, I needed to change when Nissan turned the new ones super ugly, converting the PF to a soccer-mom crossover. But... that turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I couldn't be happier with the newly styled 4Runner. Looks rugged inside and out, navigation & bluetooth connectivity couldn't be cooler, and it's comfortable (although don't expect the plush comfort of its larger 8 cylinder cousins). Ok, some minor annoyances— seat heaters, moonroof and HomeLink mirrors only come on the higher end models; I'd prefer these as a la cart add-ons instead of the major jumps in package levels. Some handy things: 3rd row seating (option), 12 cup holders, door ground lights, and the best: automatic rear window (yep!) Finally, got great service from New Country Toyota in Saratoga. Though I dread dealerships and the whole car shopping thing, they made it an all-round satisfying experience. I highly recommend the '14 Toyota 4Runner.

Im a bit of a Toyota Fanatic! I absolutely love the reliability of their vehicles! I've owned several Toyota's but this 4Runner has got to be my favorite! Its 4.0 V6 has all the power you'll need! I've drove it about 800 from WV to FL for vacation and the 4Runner was awesomely comfortable! As other posts have mentioned, the 4WD doesn't allow you to make steep turns in snow without it feeling like the park break is pulled. My personal opinion is that power is evenly distributed, making it difficult to make the steep turns but i nothing close to a mechanic. Other than that, i absolutely have no complaints!

Good value in the mid 30k range. Dealer was most accommodating as the 4 Runner we wanted was located in another state, which posed no problem for this dealer. However, local Toyota refused to use the dealer network to locate the model with the option, color, etc., that we wanted. That sealed the deal with the other Toyota dealer. Just took a 1k road trip to NE, trouble free, great ride, easy handling. We own Chevy and Honda SUVs, but the 4Runner appears to be stronger built, with a better ride and performance. However, with any SUV, mileage will suffer. We average 22MPG on Interstates and turnpike. In-town, about 17MPG. The 4Runner is a quality vehicle and should provide years of reliable service. Highly recommend it.

2014 SR5 Premium 4Runner - Not my Favorite

I agree with T. from Denver, Colorado. I have been leasing a 2014 Premium model 4Runner for the past year. While I do like some things about it, my major complaint has to do with the 4WD which leaves a lot to be desired! While driving in snowy conditions with 4WD engage I cannot make turns or back up, I actually have to dis-engage it! It is as if the emergency brake has been applied to keep the vehicle from moving. I have owned other 4Runners, a 2000 SR5 and a 2003 Limited and prior to that other SUV make/models. I NEVER had to dis-engage 4WD to make a turn or back up in any of them. When I brought the SUV to the dealership to be looked I, told the mechanic what was happening, he looked at me as if I were crazy! He told me "that it is "normal" and how 4WD is supposed to work as power needs to be distributed evenly to all 4 wheels". It is NOT "normal". Maybe it would be if 4WD was a new concept, but it is not! This is my first time leasing a vehicle.....I am so happy I decided to do so. Needless to say, when my lease is up next year, I am handing the keys back. We have been Toyota customers for many years, but if Toyota does not fix the 4WD issue in the 2016 model, it kills me to say I will be re-evaluating my loyalty. Toyota has gone backward with the 4Runner regarding performance (and style)! It's too bad!!

OWNED A 2003 4RUNNER FOR 10 YEARS.........NOTHING EVER WENT WRONG WITH IT. AT 163K MILES, I'VE GIVEN IT TO MY GRANDAUGHTER. THE 2014 4RUNNER WE JUST BOUGHT IS A MUCH DIFFERENT VEHICLE.........MANY MORE OFFROAD/HANDLING SYSTEMS THAT WILL TAKE A LOT OF FAMILIARIZATION. LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT. THE 2014 IS A COMFORTABLE ROAD CAR AND WITH THE "SPORT" FEATURE IN THE TRANSMISSION, I THINK IT WILL OUT PULL A TRACTOR.

I recently purchased a 2014 Certified 4Runner SR5 with leather and nav. I absolutely love this truck! I drive a lot of miles for work and have owned several cars including luxury sedans. I enjoy the driving experience of my 4Runner more than anything I've owned and the reliability and resale value speaks for itself!

4th 4 Runner

by from on December 22, 2014

Liked them all. This is the fourth 4 Runner and the 7th Toyota. If what I wrote was not enough, then this survey is ridiculous.
