Poor quality haunts me
Toyota quality takes a hit with this lemon. I have had it back to the shop at least 8 times for: 1. defective sunroof shade; 2. replaced water pump; 3. Air conditioner that quit working; 4. interior trim pieces loose; 5. rattling and squeaking that even the dealershp admits is excessive. So much for Toyota quality. The car is a comfortable ride, but it has been way too problematic for my liking.

Bumper car
It resembles a Bumper car. It does everything okay, no over kill here. Its reliable and practical, it could accmodate most people but, not comfortbly. It has a lot of get up and go for and econo box, more so on the bottom(lower rpms) then the civics. the power is abrupt but with a little funnese could be tamed and grown accustumed to. the suspension seems to get tweek easy though. from pot holes. maintance is breeze. it has timing chain that is self adjusting, so, not worries there.

The Perfectly Balanced Car
This vehicle is awesome because it has a perfect balance between sports car and practical car. It has all the Corolla S' features, standard and then it has the Celica 2ZZ-ge engine which gives it enormous HP and Speed. Although it is fast, it is a family car first and if you don't push the engine past 4000 rpms, you won't notice anything. The features are great and if you get this car, get this car with the JBL audio system because it sounds amazing! The only things I don't like about this car is the highest speed it can reach is 130 mph. Not like I am going to go that fast, it would be nice to know that I could. The second thing is the 170 hp only fully kicks in at 7,600 rpms, and the rev limiter is at 8,200 rpms which leaves only 600 rpms to get all your speed before you shift. And the last thing is the low torque of 127 lbs.-ft. With all of that in mind, this car is awesome despite it's defects. And if you don't want the XRS but in fact do want a midsize car, then the corolla is perfect. The gas mileage is great, and the features are great.

Coolest car I've ever owned
Had an '05 XRS. My wife wanted safety and reliability and good gas mileage. I wanted performance and style. This was the only perfect win-win situation. Compared with Nissan SE-R Spec-V, Mazda3, and Hyundai Elantra (the Honda Civic Si was only a two-door; we need 4 and the EX is too pricey new and too slow old.) I never really thought I'd find an XRS and almost had my wife set to get the Mazda3 S since they were easy to come by and a local used dealer had good prices on them, but then this black XRS showed up and met all of our demands: great handling, decent acceleration and comfort, great reliability record, and it had a 6-speed manual, 6-disc in-dash changer, and 6 airbags. We couldn't have asked for anything more. It had to go to the shop a couple times to get something fixed with the gas cap. It kept making the engine light come on. That, and the little door to the storage compartment beneath the cd changer broke. Both problems were covered by the warranty.

Best deal in long lasting vehicle
Fantastic Car! I would buy it again! Very sporty small car that is quite gutsy on the freeway. It's very stable even at 100 Mph.

Ultimate car for frugal people 40mpg & reliable
Bought this car in Feb of 2005 after previously owning two other Toyotas. I wanted a more refined compact sedan with good gas mileage. Was more concerned about amenities than performance. This car fits the bill perfectly. I own the LE edition, and it comse standard with all the options I was looking for. So far no problems. I drive 120 miles a day, and it gets me around safely in and with comfort.

Traded my Lincoln for Corolla, and I'm Glad
At current gasoline prices, I was spending upwards of $50/week to commute in my '94 Town Car, in addition to ever-climbing maintenance expenses. It was time to find a better solution. After evaluating Hyundai, Ford and Nissan products, the clear choice was Corolla. Simply put it provides the best value for my money. Mileage is already great at 32 MPG, and will likely improve as the car gets some miles under its belt. My weekly gas bill is now around $25-30. As to comfort: well, it's obviously no town car in the interior. But, I'm a 6-footer, and I have plenty of legroom. The LE trim level even has some additional appearance items that keep the car away from the bare-bones level. The seats are well designed and comfortable. The biggest surprise: the road feel and ride are actually superior to my old Lincoln. Time will tell on the reliability question. But I selected Corolla based on its historical reliability record, which is better than the majority of the cars on the road. I don't anticipate any ugly surprises.
