Still great on 5th birthday

I bought this car new early in 2005. It now has 38,000 miles with no problems, and no replacements or repairs of major parts. It has had regular oil changes and general mainenance by a conscientious mechanic. It continues to get great gas mileage--from 39mpg up to 48, depending upon roads and conditions. It starts reliably in cold weather--down to minus 20F on occasion, and the highway ride is more like a much larger car, smoothe and relatively quiet. It handled very well in ice and snow after appropriate tire replacement of the initial cheap ones. The standard shift has so far shown no clutch problems, but I'm also almost the sole driver and was "raised" on a standard shift, so don't tend to do things that wear them out rapidly. I'm a small person, so the interior fits me just fine. My son, an occasional driver finds it a bit squashy, but he's a big guy. Some of the interior beading around the doors is coming loose, and the exterior rubber shield for the fog light wells didn't last much beyond the dealership lot. The paint around the grill is chipping a bit. Considering I must drive on 3 miles of gravel before reaching a paved road, this was expected. One minor annoyance has been that the interior heats up whenever the sun is out, more than other cars I've had, no matter what the outside temperature is. Therefore, most of the time, I have to drive with the air conditioning on. But I can't find anything worse than that to complain about. Overall, after five years, I continue to love this car.

alot of road noise

so great car but would not get it again. I cant stand the road noise. I ended up buying great tires to help but spent to much money i think for tires when all they had to do is make it more sound profe. Other than that oh yea my car engine sputters some time in the extreme cold when i start engine.

Not so reliable after a few years!

I bought this car used with 15,000 miles on it. As a college student I needed something that was going to be dependable. So far I have had the computer replaced twice and possibly going on it's third wants toyota get's back to me on what this new problem is. The air conditioner has been replaced once, and I had to replace three dashboard lights costing 50 dollars a piece! And now the dashboard rattles since they had to remove it. If you asked me when I first bought it I would have recomended it but now the bills are racking up on it. Maybe I will try a honda the next time, because mine has not lived up to be as great as everyone has said it was. And it just reached 67,000 miles I hate to see how much farther it goes down hill!

Reliable and Fun to Drive

I bought the XRS model used and I love it! It is a fun car to drive and is extremely reliable. I gave it a lower grade for the interior design because it's a little noisy and has some flimsy materials for interior compartments. Otherwise, an awesome car!

Not as reliable as a few years ago

I bought this car based on a general reputation that Toyota Corollas were good and reliable cars. I was wrong. The car seems to break down more than usual. But the good thing is it is cheaper to fix, since Corollas are so common.

2005 corolla

corolla is no doubt a very reliable car but at 50,000 miles on it,the brakes squeak I have gotten them changed but the noise is still there, front windows when rolling them down also make a squeaky noise and the timing chain makes noise also, took it to the mechanic he says it has timing chain and it squeaks ,thats 3 squeaks in the most reliable car from toyota.

2005 Toyota,

Could not pass state emission inspection because check engline light on. Dealer said it needed a new PCM. Toyota has given three dates for delivery of part. A very expensive part, I might add. It's been five weeks and the part has finally arrived after three bogus ETA's but dealer did not have time to install. Back to dealer for the fifth time soon. Some Toyotas with this problem don't even run. Reliability is a myth. Toyota is useless and I would never, never buy one again. Not a dealership problem

Its still a corolla

Great driving car, only one problem since first purchase in 05, at sustained high rpms the fuel pump tends to not be able to supply the motor with enough fuel, and burns out. I had to replace it twice, second time with high volume external from TRD and covered by waranty.

I love it!!! Corolla S Rocks

I have had this trouble free car for almost 3 years. It was a rental Corolla. 2nd I purchased from Hertz.. I tinted the windows & changed the crummy headlights & Now it is a GREAT CAR.. Best mileage is 42.5 on a trip to California from Idaho.. I cruised 80 across the desert... A Prius is 500 lbs heavier & 10 GRAND more money... You would have to drive a ton of miles to ever come close to gaining any fuel mileage advantage with a hybrid, & all in town... I prefer it to my Moms MUSHY Camry & I get much better mileage
