What Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla?

The value-oriented Toyota Corolla is a front-wheel-drive compact sedan that seats five. Power comes from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that works with a standard continuously variable automatic transmission. Competitors include the Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra. A redesigned Corolla sedan debuts for 2020.

What’s New on the 2019 Toyota Corolla?

There are no significant changes this year.

What Features in the 2019 Toyota Corolla Are Most Important?

A long list of standard active safety features includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic high-beam headlights. Other standard features include LED headlights, air conditioning, a touchscreen multimedia system with iPod connectivity, Bluetooth streaming audio and a 60/40-split, folding backseat.

Should I Buy the 2019 Toyota Corolla?

The Corolla is a spacious compact sedan with comfortable front seats, and it has an efficient, responsive drivetrain. A few characteristics, however, drag down the overall experience; ride quality and steering feel aren’t great, and the four-cylinder engine’s power at highway speeds is modest. The Corolla also lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, two relatively common connectivity features. You might be able to find better deals on the 2019 Corolla as dealers look to clear their lots of them, but we’d recommend also driving the redesigned 2020 model to see which one you prefer.

  • The front end is too low and it catches on everything not

The front end is too low and it catches on everything not a very durable car! That she ret transmission is horrible Not reliable! The materials that covers the seats is cheap and difficult to keep clean! Between the horrible transmission and the way the front ends put together this is not a good investment! Very disappointed!

  • Corolla is very reliable and inexpensive car

In 1974 I went to work at a Toyota Dealership in Casper, WY. I had just went through a year of Votech on repair. Thinking back 50 years since then my first choice of dependable cars is Toyota filled by Honda then Nissan. Today I own a 2019 Corolla, 1997 Buick, 1971 Datsun 240Z, and a 1953 Chevy Pickup. I gave my 2003 Corolla to my son when I bought the 2019. Working on restoring the Z car with Rust repair. I have owned lots of different import cars in my life. The Toyota line is what I prefer to drive the 2019 I have only had to do the 5000 mile scheduled oil change and rotate tires ,as when I bought it only 6,700 miles and currently 34,000 trouble free miles. The 2003 I bought with 25,000 miles and it currently has 180,000 with scheduled oil change and rotate tires with only repairs were an alternator, wheel bearing, and cruise control part under the steering wheel. To me 150K for 03 car and 28k on the 19 Corolla is an excellent record! Oh I forgot my wife lost a key so we are down to 1 key as the frigging cost for replacement key is ridiculous!

  • Does not disappoint

I’ve owned several Toyotas over the years from a 4 Runner to an Avalon onto several Camrys. Now in my later years, I needed a smaller car, easily handleable, and 35+mpg plus be reliable. The Corolla delivers. Not a speed demon or a car you drive like it’s on rails but does exactly what I was expecting. A great retirement unit for running errands and 100 mile trips.

  • Bad experience !

15 days after I bought the car, I was heading to work and I received a phone call from my wife that the car it won’t start I don’t know why! And then she requested a neighbor a jump starter to start the car. Later on I took the car for battery testing and it failed. I went to three locations, I couldn’t believe what happened.because, It Has only 24,000 mileage, with Toyota‘s original battery on it.then the results came bad battery! So, I ended up buying a new one.pathetic!!!

  • Speed control

I have to agree with another review. Yes the cruise control needs to be addressed. The car WILL SPEED UP 5MPH BEFORE IT DOWNSHIFTS. i spoke to a Toyota mechanic. He stated it was the band transmission. NOT THE CRUISE CONTROL. Who pays the ticket when I get stopped doing 60 in a 45. Going over an overpass... Think. Up hill. Fast. Down.

  • 30 years in Toyota vehicles

Sorry to have to give a just okay rating to the 2019 Corolla, but this one has some problems. The cruise control downshifts the engine when going down hill s and not even on steep declines. Tachometer revs up between 3000-4000 frequently and for extended times, driving down gas mileage and possibly more wear on the engine. The backup camera is poor quality at night. The engine will lunge when starting to accelerate after stops at red lights, etc. Like my headline says, I have been driving Toyota vehicles forever, but if this was my first Toyota, I think I would pass next time and try some other make.
