Used Porsche 914 for sale in Los Angeles, CA

I owned a 1974 Porsche 914 for about 7 years. The only improvement Porsche should have made was the placement of the battery. (The owner of this 914 was wise to move it to the front trunk.) Once got 40 miles to the gallon while touring the flat roads of southern Florida. Never got less than 24 mile per gallon on any fill up. The car was a joy to drive and very comfortable even on a long trip. One night I was behaving myself when a mustang zipped past me while I was doing 65. I put the pedal to the floor and felt a steady pressure as my back was gently pressed into my bucket seat. I finally came to my senses as the 914 easily slipped by 120 MPH showing no indication that I had reached anything near the cars top end. A german mechanic had told me that these cars were capable of 140 plus but I never believed it before that night. Buy this car if you have the money for the perfect sports car.

I recently purchased an 1980 Porsche from Beverly Hills Car Club, and last year I also sold them an 1800 coupe. As a California resident it was great to be able to make the trip to Los Angeles to deal with them directly, but IMO they are a great just through the phone/website. Selling the car last year was easy, good price, just sent a few photos. Buying was easy as well and their website is always up to date with new inventory. Alex, the owner, typically handles sellers. Gevik was my salesperson -he was great, extremely knowledgeable and made my experience in searching for a classic specific Porsche 911 totally worth it. Of course, buying and selling old cars often can have issues and caveats, but I would recommend them, especially for anyone in Southern California.

I owned a 1974 (1.8) and loved it. Felt it was a perfect sports car. Have two suggestions: Buy a plastic base for your battery. If not you may get some serious rusting underneath that will need repair. Also inspect the "Jack" insert locations. These can collect dirt and road salt. My 1.8 blew away EPA gas milage predictions of 23 MPG. I never got below 24 MPG / registered 40 MPG during a road trip in Florida. My Porsche was still raring to go when I decided that 140 MPH was fast enough and I slowed down before getting any tickets.

My experience was 5 Stars! Helpful staff, great mix of cars, the salesperson I dealt with was honest and straightforward about the vehicles I was looking at. I see other comments here about stated mileage and mechanical issues.. My advice is Do Your Own research!!! Buying a 40-50+ years old car almost always comes with a few surprises! There are still are some diamonds in the rough : )

Incredible place! Before actually venturing out to see this place in person, I read a lot of negative reviews and was skeptical to even visit BHCC. Upon arrival, I was completely shocked at the breadth and variety of rare cars that BHCC were able to accumulate in one location, albeit in varying conditions. This place is not for the uninitiated -- this is for the true car aficionados -- ones that know that entry into the world of classic and vintage cars require a steadfast commitment in TLC, time, patience and $$$. The negative reviews seem to be coming from this supremely entitled class -- whose numbers seem to be growing by the minute -- expecting everything should be perfect and be done for them to their taste. You're walking into a place with cars that are 40 to 100 years old, with insanely limited production numbers -- and the expectation is that they should all be perfect?! For who, for you? These people are the type that would give Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa a one-star review because it's smaller in size than THEY expected. The entitlement -- how revolting! And who are these morons that keep complaining that Beverly Hills Car Club is not located in Beverly Hills? This place must be over 100,000 sf filled to the brim with hard to find, extremely rare examples of automotive history. And the main gripe is that the dealership is not located in Beverly Hills?! As if 90210 is simply littered with 100,000sf warehouses at a price per sf that makes any modicum of business sense. The level of critical thinking in this country is at an all-time low! I almost missed out on my dream car because of reviews left by these naysayers. Thank heavens I think for myself! If you are visiting the LA area, this place is definitely worth a visit. Very informed and knowledgeable staff. And as they say -- if you don't belong, don't be long. Thank you for the tour, Alex -- and happy to make a deal with you on my "new" Porsche Carrera.
