Owning a CX90 is like dating a very beautiful woman.
Owning a CX90 is like dating a very beautiful woman. Great to look at and when things are working properly its an amazing experience. Smooth, really fast in sports mode, handles great, lots of room, etc, but like beautiful women, the 90 is temperamental and high maintenance and needy. I've owned it for 3 months now and it's been to the dealer 4 times already. The dealer is great but they are completely getting screwed by Mazda. I feel like early owners are like beta testers for the 90. Had a check engine light and they also performed a few recalls and all of a sudden the remote start stops working. Talked to mazda they say take it to the dealer, dealer says that mazda is working on an update and they can't do anything. The remote start (which is through an app) finally was fixed on the 4th attempt. Do you like annoying seatbelt chimes, than the 90 has them in spades. I understand the iihs gives better scores for annoying reminders so I'm not too upset with the driver seat, but the rear seats are extreme. If you drop your kids off to school, you must turn the vehicle off, or it will keep beeping, and beeping, and beeping, until you turn the car off and back on. Did your kid decide to switch seats, than the car will keep beeping, and beeping, until you put a seatbelt in an empty seat. Did you kid sit in between seats or put pressure on another seat, than it will keep beeping and beeping until you put a seatbelt in an empty seat. Like what sadistic engineer decided it was a good ideal. A positive is the cx90 is also a iihs safety pick + and appears to be the safest vehicle in its class. And the EV range is near the 26+ in warmer weather but in winter it goes way down. If its below 20 you'll get about 10 miles, bc it saves about 25% in reserve. It's expected but kind of disappointing. - Purchased a New car

CX-90 - First month impressions
Bought the CX-90 in early Feb. 2024 and immediately drove across the country and back. No issues at all. After 4,000 miles, the actual performance was consistent with all of the video reviews. Very comfortable interior with high end feel.Apple Car Play worked seamlessly with GPS system Waze. Hands free controls was smooth and prompt. PHEV experience was solid. Love the charging prioritization feature while driving. Takes about 2 hours on the highway to reach a full charge so that at destination you can operate on EV mode. At home, Level 1 charge takes about 10 hours (overnight) Wish the 26 mile EV range was more like 50 but maybe in future models. Combined MPG with 98% highway driving on the road trip was 25.5 mpg. Overall, so far so good. Vey happy with the purchase. - Purchased a New car

A fantastic upgrade with a couple of kinks
I really do love my CX-90 PHEV but, as anyone will tell you as an early owner of a brand new model of anything, there are kinks to work out. I can get most of my driving done on battery without having to transition to the gas engine which is awesome. The amount of time it takes to charge is not awesome. I would schedule all of my charging to happen late at night when power is cheapest but the charger it comes with takes 11 hours to fully charge. I bought a level 2 charger which takes closer to 8 hours. An improvement but not what I was hoping for. The infotainment system randomly but consistently disconnects from my phone without explanation or warning. It reconnects quickly but it is very annoying. Finally, the engine will sometimes have hiccups when I'm driving on either engine. I will feel a weird surge of power which worries me a bit. Other than not being able to get the color I wanted (I was told "soul red" isn't popular on larger, "mom" cars) I am very happy with the car. It is stylish, fits my whole family very comfortably, and it was a wonderful upgrade from my 2020 CX-5 (which I also LOVED). I can't wait to see what the future holds with PHEV vehicles. What a wonderful bridge between gas and electric - makes it feel totally reliable! - Purchased a New car

Great car love the sophisticated and upscale exterior and interior First time hybrid plug in purchase and seeing fuel savings, would like to see greater electric range. It would be nice to have more information on how to get the most out of the phev, from dealership, I know that this is a new model and there will be undoubtedly more information coming Our dealership was excellent in all phases of helping us procure our Mazda thankful for them Excited to drive this more! - Purchased a New car

Great value, classy car!
Bought this at Modern Mazda in Watertown ct from Steve Duffy…car is great,better than expected. Glad I waited for the new model, the console and feel of the car is better than Cx-9. I dont regret , haven’t been disappointed with a thing. Captains chairs, ventilated seats, HUD and console are why I bought this, plus the extra mileage from phev. I’d recommend researching the install of charger at home before purchasing, charging is where you get the real bang for buck. This car is a tremendous value! - Purchased a New car

Just purchased my CX90 PHEV Monday, took a long drive, 300 mi. Became familiar with it's features & so far, I love everything about this SUV! Very comfortable, well worth the asking price my opinion. Nice 3 Row SUV with a Sporty Plugin Hybrid System
Mazda’s first hybrid 3-row SUV still feels and drives like a Mazda, something folks who enjoy driving notice. Maybe you’re curious about the EV revolution but have range anxiety. If your typical drive is a local errand around 30 miles roundtrip and you can plug in at home, you’ll buy gas only when you take the vehicle on road-trips. The CX-90 has a real road presence that isn’t captured in photos, but it wears Mazda’s gorgeous paints so nicely, both of which you must appreciate in person while getting behind the wheel to feel the rear-wheel-drive biased road handling and the surging power of both the electric and combustion motors working together in concert to thrust this mid-size SUV wherever you point it. The interior even at Premium trim has luxurious materials and buttons and switches that feel great.
