Cars.com's Mike Hanley gives you an overview of the 2008 Mazda CX-9. It competes with the 2008 GMC Acadia and the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz.

Hi, I'm Mike Hanley with cars.com. And this is the Mazda CX-9. It's one of a number of new three-row crossover SUVs that have come on the market lately. And it's one of our favorite ones here at cars.com.
It was recently the winner of a three-way comparison test against the GMC Acadia and Hyundai Veracruz. One of the things that sets apart the CX-9 is its sleek styling. Mazda's managed to bring that over from its passenger cars, and you can see it in its headlights and grill. And as you go around to the back, you can see it has sleek, tapered, side windows, and this model has available 20-inch wheels as well. One of the things that really helped win us over with the CX-9 was its V6 engine. For the 2008 model year, the engine has actually gone up in size a little bit. It's now 3.7 liter V6. In terms of driving experience, it drives much like the old one did in terms of power. The change is really not that noticeable, but it's still a engine we like. It's very smooth and fits well with this vehicle. Mazda really raised its game with the interior of the CX-9. Where some of its passenger cars just have so-so quality, the quality of the Mazda CX-9 dash is really up there. It has nice materials on the dash. It has this neat, flowing dash design, and it also has sporty gauges that accent the whole sporty personality of the vehicle. One thing that we can't really understand, though, is why the heated seat option only has one setting. It's either on or off, you can't choose variable grades. Overall, the CX-9 stacks up pretty well against the competition.
