A software malfunction with the antilock brake system is the root cause of Ram’s latest recall for its 1500 half-ton pickup truck. More than 1.2 million pickups are affected.
Included in the recall are model-year 2019 and 2021-24 1500s. Due to said software malfunction, the ABS control module may disable the electronic stability control system. Driving with electronic stability control disabled can increase the risk of a crash.
To fix the issue, dealers will update the ABS control module software for free. Ram parent company Stellantis will notify owners Oct. 3, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 85B), NHTSA’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
