CARS.COM — As a certified child passenger safety technician, I’ve spent more than 40 hours in the classroom and the field learning how to correctly install a child-safety seat. I know what you’re thinking — “That’s a lot of hours; could it be that hard?” Yes, there’s a lot to learn. Not only are car seats complicated, but the vehicles they’re installed in make a big difference in terms of fit and Latch system access. Vehicles with clearly marked, exposed lower Latch and top tether anchors make it easier to correctly install a car seat.
In 2015, we installed child-safety seats in around 80 model-year 2015 and 2016 cars, trucks and SUVs. Thankfully, there are more good vehicles than bad. Below are the vehicles with Latch systems that get it right, making it easier for caregivers to correctly install the car seat that could save a child’s life.
