Acura is borrowing some concept car looks for its revised 2024 TLX, as the sedan gets a sleek new face, compliments of the Type S Concept. Also for 2024, the TLX gets a streamlined trim lineup, more sound-deadening materials in the cabin and additional standard technology features.

Fresh Face

The 2024 TLX wears what Acura calls a Diamond Pentagon grille with a mesh pattern, inspired by the Type S Concept from 2019. The production car’s design borrows the concept’s long hood, sleek grille and sharp front angles, and the grille is flanked by LED headlights and “chicane”-style LED daytime running lights.

The sportier looking A-Spec trim gets new dual-spoke 19-inch Shark Gray wheels, larger dual exhaust tips, a new gloss-black rear spoiler and other black exterior trim. Opting for the performance-oriented Type S amps things up further with a specific open-surface mesh for the grille, Berlina Black 20-inch double-spoke wheels with Pirelli Cinturato P7 all-season tires, an exclusive front splitter, rear deck spoiler, rear diffuser, large quad exhaust outlets and red Brembo four-piston front brake calipers.

New exterior paint colors join the lineup, as well. The all-new Urban Gray Pearl is available on A-Spec and Type S trims, and Liquid Carbon Metallic is available on the TLX with the Technology Package.

Fewer Trims, More Standard Tech

For the 2024 model year, Acura has pared down the TLX’s trim lineup. The base front-wheel-drive trim is now gone, replaced by a newly standard variant with the Technology Package. From there, there’s the A-Spec, which now comes standard with all-wheel drive, and the top high-performance Type S, which Acura says accounts for nearly 25% of all TLX sales.

Powertrains carry over for 2024. The standard engine is a 272-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder; the Type S trim uses a 355-hp, turbo 3.0-liter V-6. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which gets specific tuning in the Type S.

On the tech front, there’s more standard equipment for 2024. All trims get a larger 12.3-inch center infotainment screen, which is 20% larger than the outgoing one and is powered by a faster processor, according to Acura. Other standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a wireless charging pad and Amazon Alexa Built-In compatibility. In the backseat, there are two new USB-C charging ports. In addition, there’s a new 12.3-inch configurable driver information cluster; in the Type S, the screen features a new Sport+ driving mode that displays turbocharger boost information as well as a graphical G-force meter that illustrates acceleration, braking and cornering forces.

On the safety front, newly standard across the lineup is a new rear seat belt reminder system. Also standard on the Type S is a higher-resolution 360-degree camera system and a configurable 10.5-inch color head-up display with expanded functionality. The AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assistance features has been updated, so cameras and radar have a wider view for improved collision detection and prevention.

On-Sale Date

The 2024 TLX will go on sale in late November. There’s no word yet on pricing, but Acura says the new model will come with a complimentary maintenance plan for the first two years or 24,000 miles of ownership.
