Hits dealerships: Late Summer 2024

The fastest-growing brand in the GM portfolio, when considering the U.S. market, is one you might not suspect: Buick, the brand previously known for being the car your grandpa was most likely to drive. Not anymore, as all the brand’s cars are gone, and the only things it sells in the U.S. these days are crossover-style SUVs. And with the new 2025 Buick Enclave, Buick has completed a total refresh of its full lineup. For the 2025 model year, the Enclave gets a thorough going-over, with new styling front and back, a new powertrain, new technology and an upgrade to its interior that’s sure to draw some attention.

Taking on the Corporate Face

Most notable of the changes to the 2025 Enclave is the new corporate schnoz: The look is inspired by the Buick Wildcat concept car from a couple years ago. The slim lights above the grille line are just LED daytime running lights; the actual headlights are below that line and flank a new grille that’s different for each of the Enclave’s three trim levels: Preferred, Sport Touring (ST) and the top lux Avenir.

New wheels grace the sides, with 20-inch wheels standard on the Preferred and ST and 22-inchers for the Avenir. The ST gets the blackout look, with dark-painted trim replacing chrome, and the Avenir brings back the bling with plenty of sparkle. New taillights complete the update out back, with a strip running from edge to edge — as is the common style with most new SUVs these days, it seems.

More Power, Fewer Cylinders

Under the hood is a new engine: a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 328 horsepower and 326 pounds-feet of torque. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels; all-wheel drive is optional on every trim level. It’s a nice upgrade in grunt from the outgoing V-6, but it’s the same powertrain that GM has put in the new 2024 Chevrolet Traverse — not even a mild bump in power for your extra Buick bucks.

Buick does offer its QuietTuning feature as an upgrade from the more pedestrian Chevy, with more sound insulation, noise-canceling tuning in the audio system and acoustic glass on all trims for what should be a quieter driving experience. New for the Avenir trim, the Continuous Damping Control suspension that used to be optional on the Avenir now comes standard — likely meaning the trim level will get a bit of a price bump.

Upgraded Insides

The Enclave’s interior gets the most love for the 2025 model year, with an all-new dash that now features a continuous 30-inch diagonal display (the same one now also appears in the mid-size 2024 Envision two-row SUV). The new screen brings a new Google multimedia system, too, and features the same integrations we’ve seen in other GM vehicles — but it will be keeping the standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that the company is eliminating in a lot of its upcoming EVs.

Interior treatments also differ between the trim levels. The ST gets a sportier look, with black interior appointments, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 12-speaker Bose audio and dark trim. The Avenir pulls out the stops with lighter colors, a two-tone blue option and a 16-speaker Bose audio system.

The safety systems also get an upgrade, with standard blind-zone steering assist, intersection automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure warning and steering assist. The onboard cameras feature seven standard views, with packages available to up that to nine cameras. Also standard will be automatic crash response, remote vehicle commands via a smartphone app and some additional features that will be included with the OnStar One Essentials Package. But most notable in the tech department is that the Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous driving system will be offered as optional on all Enclave trim levels, the first time a Buick has offered the somewhat-self-driving system.

Coming This Summer

The 2025 Buick Enclave will be arriving at dealerships later this summer, but pricing won’t be released until closer to the SUV’s on-sale date. The Enclave is likely to see a price bump given the additional standard features the new model will sport.
