79,000-Plus Ford Explorers, Lincoln Aviators Recalled Over Driver’s Seat
Ford is recalling more than 79,500 of its Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury arm) because of an issue with power-adjustable driver’s seats.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2026-27 Explorers and Aviators. In certain situations (such as when the vehicle is remotely unlocked or started), the unoccupied driver’s seat may unexpectedly recline. If someone is sitting in the second row, the moving seatback could trap them, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy is currently under development and Ford has not yet announced when owners will be notified, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 26S53), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
