Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 BMW i4 starts at $59,075 (all prices include $1,175 destination charge).
  • More efficient electronics improve range.
  • The M50 variant gains additional power and becomes the M60.

For the 2026 model year, the BMW i4 Gran Coupe sees more range across its lineup, as well as more power for the range-topping variant. And from the buyers’ perspective, the all-electric sedan’s additional range is free miles, as pricing for each available powertrain is the same for 2026 as it was for 2025. The 2026 i4 starts at $59,075.

What’s New?

A minor change nets increased range for the 2026 i4. Replacing silicon with silicon carbide in the electric sedan’s inverters — the bits responsible for converting the battery pack’s direct current to the alternating current necessary to power the electric motor — makes that process more efficient. Official EPA estimates are not yet available, but BMW expects range for the entry-level i4 eDrive40 to increase from 12-15 miles, resulting in ratings over 300 miles regardless of wheel size.

At the top of the lineup, range is expected to increase from 5-11 miles for the i4 formerly known as the M50. That’s despite an additional 57 horsepower, too, which is why the model has been renamed M60.

There are smaller changes to optional equipment for 2026, as well. The Parking Assistant Professional Package now includes a dash cam. Black mirror housings and upgraded brakes are rolled into the Shadowline Package, and glass interior controls are available on all 2026 i4s.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 BMW i4 is on sale now. Full pricing is as follows:

  • eDrive40: $59,075
  • xDrive40: $63,475
  • M60: $71,875

Powertrain Specs and Range

A single electric motor drives the i4 eDrive40’s rear wheels with 335 hp and 317 pounds-feet of torque. BMW says that’s enough to propel the eDrive40 from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds. While the i4 xDrive40’s designation might suggest similar output, a second motor powering the front wheels for all-wheel drive lofts total output to 396 hp and 443 pounds-feet and hurls it to 60 mph in a claimed 4.9 seconds. In the i4 M60, the front and rear motors combine to produce 593 hp and 586 pounds-feet of torque and a 0-60 time of just 3.6 seconds.

All 2026 BMW i4s draw juice from an 81-kilowatt-hour battery pack, but all-electric range is significantly impacted by wheel size (larger wheels tend to be heavier, consuming more energy to turn). BMW expects the 2026 i4 eDrive40 will travel 333 miles on a charge with the standard 18-inch wheels and 307 miles on the available 19s. The company doesn’t have estimates for the xDrive40, but it figures the i4 M60 to have a range of 278 miles on its standard 19-inch wheels and just 232 miles with the optional 20s.

Trim Levels

Beyond their electric powertrains, the 2026 BMW i4s are similarly equipped. All feature keyless entry and start, LED headlights, a moonroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power liftgate and Digital Key, which allows owners to use their smartphone as a vehicle key. Inside are synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice control.

The i4 eDrive40 and xDrive40 ride on standard 18-inch wheels; the M60 is fitted with 19s wearing summer performance tires. The xDrive40 gets a sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers, while the M60 adds upgraded brakes, LED taillights and unique interior trim.
