Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 Ford Maverick starts at $28,840 (all prices include $1,695 destination charge).
  • EcoBoost turbocharged engine again available with front-wheel drive
  • Hybrid rated at up to 38 mpg combined, EcoBoost up to 26 mpg

The Ford Maverick is one of just two compact pickup trucks available in the U.S. and is some six times more popular than its only direct competitor, the Hyundai Santa Cruz. For the 2026 model year, the EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine is again available with FWD (for 2025, the turbo was only offered with all-wheel drive), and a power-sliding rear window will be optional with late availability on the XLT and Lobo trims (it was previously only fitted to the Lariat and Tremor). Otherwise, the Maverick rolls into 2026 unchanged.

Trim Levels and Safety Features

The entry-level Maverick XL has LED headlights and can be identified by its 17-inch steel wheels. Its grille and door handles are black, and app-based remote start and vehicle monitoring are standard. Inside are cloth seats (manually adjustable in front), an eight-inch digital instrument panel, a six-speaker audio system, and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety technologies on the 2026 Maverick includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assist, a driver-attention monitor and automatic high beams.

To the XL, the XLT adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, power mirrors, keyless entry and start, a power tailgate lock and a trailer-hitch receiver. The XLT’s seats are upholstered in upgraded cloth.

New for 2025, the Lobo is Ford’s attempt to reignite the sport truck trend of the 1990s. It’s available exclusively with the turbocharged EcoBoost engine and a seven-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, an upgraded cooling system, and AWD with a torque-vectoring rear differential. A lowered, sport-tuned suspension is complemented by the front brakes from the European-market Focus ST, retuned steering and 19-inch wheels. The Lobo is also dressed up with a unique front bumper, upgraded LED headlights, LED taillights, body-color door handles and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is optional on the XL and XLT and standard on the Lobo. It includes oncoming traffic alert for making left turns, blind spot monitors with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert with automatic emergency braking.

The luxurious Maverick, the Lariat boasts synthetic-leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a noise-insulated windshield, ambient lighting and heating elements for the front seats, steering wheel and side mirrors. Tech upgrades include navigation, an eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and a spray-in bedliner that helps preserve the cargo box.

The Tremor chases a different sort of enthusiast than the Lobo: buyers looking for fun away from the pavement. It, too, is only available with the turbo engine and AWD. The Tremor rides on a lifted, off-road-tuned suspension and features a locking rear differential and 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. A front skid plate and orange exterior accents — including its tow hooks — distinguish the Tremor visually.

Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is optional on the Lobo and standard on the Lariat and Tremor. This upgraded safety suite features front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering, blind spot intervention, emergency steering assist and a 360-degree camera system. It also adds Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which ease hooking up a trailer and reversing with one attached.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The standard engine in the 2026 Maverick is Ford’s EcoBoost turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder that here generates 238 horsepower and 275 pounds-feet of torque. It’s teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission except in the Lobo, which gets a paddle-shifted seven-speed automatic. The Lobo also ups the output to 250 hp and 277 pounds-feet. AWD is optional on the XL and XLT and standard on the rest of the lineup.

Official EPA ratings aren’t yet available for 2026, but previously, the EcoBoost powertrain with FWD returned an estimated 23/30/26 mpg city/highway/combined; with AWD, the EcoBoost XL and XLT were rated at 22/30/25 mpg, while the Lobo got 21/30/24 mpg and the Tremor 21/27/23 mpg. The hybrid powertrain, optional on the XL, XLT and Lariat, consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor with combined output of 191 hp and 155 pounds-feet of torque that routes its power through a continuously variable automatic transmission. It was rated at 42/35/38 mpg city/highway/combined with FWD and 40/34/37 mpg with AWD for 2025. Figures aren’t expected to change for 2026.
