Affected vehicles include certain model-year 2024 Cybertrucks. The backup camera image may be delayed from appearing when the vehicle is put into Reverse, preventing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. This is especially problematic with this pickup truck considering its chunky A-pillars and small rear window, which create lots of blind spots.
Tesla has already released an over-the-air software update to resolve the issue. The automaker will begin notifying owners Nov. 25, but those with further questions in the meantime can call Tesla at 877-798-3752 (Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-00-016), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
