AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! My brother bought a used Ford Explorer Sport Trac from Mick at Kars in Pleasant Hill for $11,600+. Had the car for two weeks when the check engine light came on. Took it to a Ford dealer to be checked and found out the truck needed a new engine. They suggested taking the car back to where he bought it. He called Mick to talk to him about it and Mick said he didn't believe him because he took it to a dealership and "it's their job to get you to spend money." Mick told my brother to go somewhere else and gave him the name of a place. Not familiar with the place and thinking they really just wanted a 2nd opinion, my brother took it to Charles Gabus Ford... a very reputable business. They also told him the engine needed to be replaced and suggested he take it back to where he bought it. Called to talk to Mick again and Mick refused to believe him... again. I tried talking to Mick and he was incredibly nasty. He started yelling at me and calling me a liar. I told him to stop yelling at me and asked to talk to his manager. He said the manager would be out for a couple of days. I said fine, we would come in and talk to him when he returned. Mick responded, "If you do, I'll call the police and have you arrested." ?!?!? For wanting to talk to the manager?? I was beyond shocked by his level of immaturity and complete lack of professionalism. We agreed to take the car to a 3rd place... where my brother was again told the car needed a new engine and that he should take it back to where he bought it. They even offered to talk to Mick (or the manager, Carl) about the car. Then the car died when my brother was trying to drive it home! My brother called to talk to the manager, Carl, but got stuck with Mick again. Mick refused to believe him, AGAIN! He didn't want to hear what the mechanic had to say, and said he would let his manager know and that he was "washing his hands of the whole thing". My brother didn't even get a chance to tell him the car was no longer working. I understand the car was used and basically purchased "as is", but for $11,600+, I think it is reasonable for you to expect the car to run for longer than a month! My brother tried to reach the manager two more times, but was just getting the run around. I had to turn them in to BBB to even get the manager to talk to us. When he did, he yelled at my brother for saying he was nasty when they hadn't even spoke. My brother informed him that he had said Mick was the one being nasty and that if he (Carl) didn't know about the issue, that was between him and Mick!! We had both tried to talk to Carl, but couldn't get past Mick. Then Carl claimed to have an engine... with nearly twice the miles on it... that my brother would have to pay about $1,000 for them to put in the car. At this point, he's already put approximately $800 into the car just having it checked repeatedly and towed twice. My brother declined. It's not a fair compromise plus, at this point, they've given him no reason to believe they can be trusted. My brother said he would pay to have the car towed back to them and all he asked in return was for them to refund him $10k. Then they could do what they wanted with the car. They refused. I would recommend avoiding this completely unethical company at all costs!! From what I have since discovered, this isn't the first time they've treated customers this way and I highly doubt it will be the last. To date, they haven't even bothered to get back to the BBB about our complaint. Save yourself a lot of time, trouble and money, and avoid this business!! My apologies for the length of this review. If I write a bad review, I want people to know why. My brother and I are both disabled and we really needed a reliable 2nd vehicle. Instead, we're stuck with something we can neither afford to fix nor replace. My advise... if you want a decent car, do NOT do business with these people.

Horrible experience... horrible company.
In July, my brother purchased a used Ford Explorer Sport Trac for $11,600+ from Mick, at the Pleasant Hill office. Two weeks later, the check engine light came on, so he took it to a Ford dealership to be checked. They told him the car needed a new engine and recommended he take it back to where he bought it. He called Mick and Mick said he didn't believe they were telling him the truth. He said it was their job to sell people stuff. My brother agreed to take it to a second place... where they gave him the same news and the same recommendation. My brother called Mick again and, AGAIN, Mick did not believe him. Aside from that, he reminded my brother he had purchased the car "as is". Unhappy with the conversation, I broke in and said that for $11,600+, it's reasonable for a person to expect the car to last for longer than a month. Especially since they claim to sell "highly reconditioned vehicles." Mick started to get nasty. He was yelling at me and calling me a liar. I had told him to use my name and stop calling me "dear" so that might have been part of the problem. Anyway, I told him to stop yelling at me and asked to talk to the manager, Carl. He told me Carl was out of the office for a couple of days. I said I would stop in to see Carl when he returned and Mick said, "If you do, I'll call the police and have you arrested." ?!?!? For wanting to talk to the manager?? Who does that?!? We agreed to take the car to a third place... one of Mick's choosing. My brother took the car in and was told the car needed a new engine and that he should talk to the place where he bought it to see what could be worked out. The mechanic even offered to talk to Mick or Carl directly to explain everything. On the way home from the garage, ALL the dash lights came on and the car died. Unsure what to do, my brother had it towed back to the garage. He asked them about pricing to replace the engine. The mechanic took a day to search for an engine and only found one with comparable mileage on it. He said it would cost approximately $6,000. My brother called Kars and tried to talk to the manager, but he got Mick again. My brother told Mick what the garage said and Mick said he didn't want to hear it. He said he would let his manager know and that he was washing his hands of the whole thing. My brother didn't even get a chance to tell Mick the car was now dead. He tried two more times to reach the manager, but couldn't get anywhere. The manager didn't accept his call until he was notified that I had turned them into the BBB. Carl was rude and indignant that we had reported them without talking to him first. My brother told him he had tried and if Mick hadn't told him what was going on, that was an issue he'd have to take up with Mick. Carl said he would check into it. He called back about 10 minutes later and said he had a different engine (with nearly twice the miles on it) he could put in the car, but it would cost my brother approximately $1,000. Well he'd already put nearly that much into the truck getting it checked repeatedly and towed twice. After consulting the mechanic we were dealing with, my brother decided Carl's offer wasn't reasonable. Plus, after the treatment we've received from these people, why would we trust anything they would do to the car?? My brother countered with an offer of his own. He would pay to have the car towed back to Kars in return for $10,000... less than what he paid for the car. Mick told my brother Carl wasn't interested in buying the car back and he hasn't heard from them since. Nobody has responded to the BBB yet either. Save yourself a lot of time and money, and avoid this place at all costs. It's a family owned business and I can't imagine how they've stayed in business for so long. Are the rude people new?? Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!

sent request for info on car 2/ 3 times no reply
i have asked about availability and info on a car 2 times maybe 3 and have never received a reply. they had this car ( still shows) for months , you would think they'd have more desire to sell the car. never delt with before and obviously won't waste anymore of my time with this car lot. there are many good lots willing to do nearly anything to sell a car, guess they don't care of maybe they too good and don't need to try.

Emailed twice and didn't get a reply or phone call. They must not be in a hurry to sell this car?

Great experience and friendly staff
I was looking for an SUV for my daughter and stopped by Kars to test drive a few cars. The first one was a little rough but we found a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer that we really liked. The staff was very friendly and gave us a competitive price. We have only had it a week but so far it is a nice car. I would recommend this dealership if you are looking for an older car for a pretty good price.

2002 Buick Regal GS
I had bought the car in August and was hoping to find a car to replace the one that kept giving me small problems alot. I had found this car and it was the same as my old one just 4 years newer. The guy who showed me the car was nice, but seemed a little too nice. overall it wasn't a bad experience. I loved the way the car looked and ran at the time. It didn't give me any problems with 101 thousand miles, until November, when it had 106 thousand mile, just a few months later, when the oil pump went out and now I have to replace the engine. I am thankful that I had purchased an extended warranty through my bank and they are covering 90% of the cost, but I've been out of a car for about 2 weeks now. The next time I buy a car I'll buy a new car off the lot with only a few miles on it.
